I am not a fan of the motorola blur and am an advocate for HTC Sense, one of the main reasons I went with the Incredible rather than the droid X, the droid pro looks sweet. I am considering using an early upgrade from another line on my family plan, how does this work? would I be able to open one year contract when I have a two year one right now, basically I want to buy the droid pro as a back up per say. I like have variety and with x-mas coming up $280 then $100 mail in rebate sounds pretty enticing. even if I have to renew with a two year itll still be worth it. but does anyonie know if I can use the primary account holders upgrade since he is due and said I can use it, I saw on verizonwireless.com that i can use his upgrade, but do I have to renew and start a new two year, or can I pay the one year price of the phone and open a new contract with one year cancelling my current two year?

I've been reading about alot of call quality issues with the Pro. I like the look of the phone but probably not enough to switch from the DINC. You can use the upgrade if you wish, I have done this alot with other family members, not sure on the 1 or 2 year...I would imagine you could do either since it is an upgrade. Make a call to customer service and they can let you know.

just found out that what ever account u use the ugrade, in my case my father, who just buys full price cos he breaks his phones like once a month. and doesnt care he has the money to buy a new one lol, he hates! two year contracts, so if i use his account upgrade it would put a one or two year contract on his account but i get the phone. I think ill stick with my Incredible which I LOVE, i just feel in love with the droid pro form factor, i havent seen it in person yet and i may have gotten my hopes up, it could feel really cheap. that was my prob with the inc. coming from the eris, the incredible felt kinda cheapy. but like i said i just got a $4000 check so I'm looking for a back up phone,.. maybe ill wait it out.

I keep finding myself drooling over the HTC Merge. A phone thats almost an Incredible, but with a hardware keyboard. Count me in. I've kind of missed not having a hardware keyboard coming from an EnV2. I'll ignore the fact that its only a 800mhz processor and that it has Bing:)confused::eek:) instead of Google. Rooting and flashing an overclock kernal will fix those issues real easy. I keep having to remind myself that I have to keep my incredible for quite a while longer. I told myself when I got my incredible that I wouldn't look at any new android phones until it was time to replace my incredible, but that hasn't happened.

Coming from a Treo, then briefly a Pre, I probably would have gotten the Pro as my first Android phone had it been available when I got my OLED Inc about 6 weeks ago. I just love the hardware keyboard layouts where you don't have to open it to type. I checked out the Pro thoroughly and have recommended it to both my mom and my best friend, both of who are buying their first Androids. Mom has a blackberry, and my friend had a Treo. He LOVES it!

Now that I've played with my friend's phone for quite a while, I wouldnt give up my Inc for a Pro anymore. The screen difference is night and day, not to mention the factory automatic brightness controls are horrible. I LOVE the keyboard, but I'm getting used to swype-like Ultra Keyboard, and I can do almost everything with voice input! Contrary to what some have said his call quality is excellent, and when this Moto phone is paired to his Moto 1000 car kit, it sounds like he's talking on a landline rather than handsfree. The quality is remarkable.

Almost forgot: my Pre came with free mobile hotspot, a feature I now cannot do without. My non-rooted Inc, after just a few keystrokes, is now also mobile hotspot. The Pro can't do it without rooting or a $20/month charge from Verizon.

Every time a new phone comes out, everyone always complains about the call quality. That's one complaint I usually ignore.

I am also drooling over the HTC Merge, I think I wanna stick with HTC phones for now.

If the Pro was out in August when I go my first Android (Eris) I would have jumped all over it. I loved my BlackBerry but had lots of problems with it. The Pro looks really cool and I honestly think BlackBerrry and RIM are in serious, serious, trouble. That being said, now that I've gone without a physical keyboard for a few months I wouldn't go back to one. It's just not neccessary, IMO, and adds a lot of bulk. I'm hoping for a 4" HTC LTE droid that's similar to the Inc to come out next year. If that doesn't happen then I'll probably end up with the Inc HD because I LOVE HTC

I'm still happy with my DINC, so I'm not looking at getting another phone for at least 18 months.

My wife bought the pro this weekend. It's a pretty sweet phone, but definitely not for someone who dislikes the Motorola look and feel. Typing is a breeze and it's a very fast phone. I've already rooted it too ;)

Some more info on the Pro, and Motos in general. There seems to be a widespread problem with push/poll and syncing email. It will work for a while, then just stop working. There is a while thread dedicated to this on Motorola's website, and on another droid forum. Both threads deal with corporate sync, but the same thing happens to my friend's Pro with just POP3 mail. I called Moto on his behalf, and a level 2 tech support guy admitted that this was a problem since the first droid. He blamed Android, and said all devices affected, but when I mention my Incredible has no trouble, he admitted it was limited to "certain devices." His only solution was get K-9 Mail, which apparently doesn't suffer the same problem. Others have reported Touchdown works for Corporate Sync.

    No problem.

Some other feedback. It has awful contacts management. Not sure if this is a Motorola issue, or just with the Pro. But if you set it to pull contact images from Facebook (when contacts are synced), it won't translate those contact images into 3rd party apps. For instance, we were trying out a bunch of 3rd party favorite contact widgets, and contacts with Facebook photos would show up as having no photo. Same thing happened with SMS popup.

Also, if you sync a contact with Facebook with a slightly different name, it will use the name that starts with a letter LOWER in the alphabet, and there is NO WAY to override this. Weirdest bug ever.

I played with it. I wasn't impressed. If you like Blackberry's, I suppose its for you. But quite frankly there is nothing different other than the layout from any other VZW Android phone right?

But yeah, I can't stand those keyboards. Then again until the iPod Touch and DInc I swore I would never use a virtual KB. I almost went with the Droid2 but the KB sucked and I was tired of fat phones.

Nah. I played with the Pro and just hated it. Keyboard felt cheap, and it was itty bitty.

Thanks for tall the comments guys, the phone looks good on screen haha!, I haven't had time to check it out in person and with these comment I no longer have a desire to. I'm content with the Incredible, and don't even care about LTE coming. I personally just hate the way the Inc. creaks cos of how crappy the back is. Even the Eris was built much better. but either way I have some cardboard back there and I'm sure it isn't good for the batter but w.e it stops the noise.
