Root Is Direct Access To The Audio Port Possible?

Hello Everyone;

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet and have gotten several of my Linux utilities running.

One thing I'd like to do is to get direct access to the sound port.

Is that possible?

For example, on my Linux laptops and desktops I can do a [cat my_sound.mp3 >>/dev/audio] and it plays the "my_sounds.mp3" file (no, it's not quite that simple - but the idea is to be able to talk directly to the sound port).

If not, is it possible to call an app (from the command line) and have it play a song?
