Root Is it possible to root a Droid Incredible 2.3.4 WITH OUT downgrading down to 2.2?

I spent all night trying to manually update My DInc from 2.2 to 2.3.4 since it kept freezing at "Rebooting to Install". I eventually figured it out some odd hours later, and whatdya know, it unrooted my phone. And as far as I can tell, it isn't possible to root the DInc anymore without downgrading to 2.2

But in case I have overlooked a link or didn't go enough pages deep into Google, does anybody know if there is a way to root my DInc?!

I hate the system apps and they clutter my Menu.

Edit: For clarification, this is relating to the first Droid Incredible, running version 2.3.4 (Gingerbread)

Assuming it's the orginal Incredible you have, the best place to ask will be in Incredible All Things Root, so I've taken the liberty of moving your thread here.

If you are still s-off, just follow directions here:

If you aren't s-off, you can do this:

You only need to downgrade if you want s-off, you don't need s- off for root access.

Ok I have a big problem... Im getting an error thats making the phone unusable...

"Sorry!
The process com.htc.bgp has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

It says this as soon as my home screen goes to load. Every single time. It won't let me do anything. Any suggestions?

Hi guys, I'm a noob to the incredible, I just got it today, its never been rooted before. I want to root just for tethering. Not trying to do anything else with it (roms or anything like that). I don't really want to down grade to froyo. Any help would be very appreciated!!!

Yes just follow this guide, but stop after compleeting step 3.

I ended up unlocking the WiFi instead of the root. Works great, but I think Verizon is already throttling me! But at least it works. Thanks again
