Root Is my phone garbage now?

I got a Samsung Galaxy S 4g from a friend and I tried to root it via this youtube vid:

Well I got to the end where the phone started Talking and a static screen showed up into an infinite boot loop.
Now the only thing I can do is get into download mode. But no recovery mode and no startup.

Can I save my phone or is it garbage? :*(

Your best bet is to as in the device's All Things Root forum. I can't give you a link as I'm using a mobile applications at the moment. Will fire up a browser and do that in a second.

With the right expertise it's surprising what can be fixed
