Was just thinking about replacing my Eris, and was wondering if the Incredible would be the logical step up from the Eris. I like the Eris a lot but there ARE a couple things that I think I'm getting tired of. First is it's slow most of the time, and second, the camera is just not living up to my expectations. Anyone have opinions on this? Would appreciate any input you guys have.
    Thanks!

I thought about the same thing. I decided to wait for a bigger processor, 720p recording, front facing cam and maybe even better screen. I can dream can't I ?

My 1-year contract on my Eris is up in the coming weeks and I'm in the same boat. My only (possibly just perceived) problem with the Incredible is the battery life...otherwise it's speedy and compact and exactly what I want in an Eris upgrade.

My other two considerations, Droid X and Droid 2, have "kinda large" and "moving parts" strikes against them.

Maybe the STFT-display rumors of the Dinc will come true and between that and the forthcoming Froyo update there'll be some resolution to my battery life fears.

There should be a dual-core Snapdragon HTC phone by the end of this year. I would wait for that.

It definitely is a good replacement. Of course there will be better phones coming out but as for what's out right now, the Incred is a very good Eris replacement. This coming from a former eris and current Incredible owner.

My son has the Incredible, and for all practical purposes, it's like the Eris on steroids. Battery life isn't as good as my Eris, but not that bad. If you like the Eris, you'll be happy with the Incredible.

That's because of the AMOLED screen. Phones with them have the worst battery life amongst Android devices.

Still, it's the chemo to the cancer that is the Eris.

I think he meant how all the new phones are hilariously, obscenely large to the point of non usefulness.

My wife got an Incredible as a Storm 2 replacement. Her case was unique - I'll leave it at that - and she also obtained an extended battery. (HTC OEM) With the extended battery, she gets several days of usage before she has to recharge. Her usage isn't near what an AF'er would be, though.

Yes, I rooted it already. :D

Playing with the Incredible I wish I had one. I won't say its what the Eris should have been - the devs on XDA have shown us what it could have been - but it really does have the right mix of style and substance. The red and black scheme is a tad annoying, though. I like a more subtle styling.

I have an Incredible and it's probably the best phone I've had so far. OC'd to 1.113 so far with no issues. I wish the camera was better too, but it's a phone camera so... Battery life isn't great though. Better than my old iPhone's but not as good as my any of the BlackBerry's I've had.

If you want a bigger screen though, the Galaxy S's are pretty sick. Not overly big like the X and EVO and the screen resolution is awesome.

You wish the camera was better? All I've heard is how great the camera is on the Incredible. One reviewer even mentioned that it takes pictures that rival dedicated digital cameras.

I upgraded from the Eris a little bit ago and I gotta say that I have absolutely no regrets. It just feels like a better phone all around. The display is gorgeous, the camera rocks and no dialer lag. I almost went with the X but found the Incredible was much easier for me to type on and fit in my pocket. I hear a lot of people complain about the battery life, but with all the syncs set at a reasonable level and the brightness about 40% (which is quite sufficient unless in sunlight), it doesn't really seem to be much different than the Eris. My ONLY complaint is the design of the camera lens with the way it sticks out the back. It's the first thing that hits the ground when some loser knocks it off the table. Still takes great pics though. And with my wife being a long time MotoDroid owner, I now have bragging rights as to who has the superior phone

The only problem with this still-officially-unnamed device is that it is still running Sense from a report that I have read on another site. Sense is one of the major weaknesses I found with the Eris. (Of course, you can always install a Home replacement, like Open Home or LauncherPro.)

Personally, I'm going to dump my Eris for an X as soon as possible. I've already talked to CS and the nearest VZW store about making the upgrade before my eligible date.

I have an upgrade in December I plan on using. If I were going to upgrade now I would definitely go with either the Droid2 or the Dinc. but there is no telling what there will be in 4 months?! ... I can't wait to say goodbye to my eris!

It was my first smartphone and up until i got it i was getting a new phone every year but i said that i would make the eris last the full two years... but i do not think i can stand by and watch as phones become infinitely better than mine! i mean just imagine what the phones will be like in another year and four months...

Sense runs fine on legit HTC phones like the EVO and DInc. The Eris should have been a stock Android phone. It wasn't made to handle Sense optimally, I think.

We used to think Sense was what was holding back the Eris from getting 2.1 and 2.2, but clearly that is not the case, as the Droid got it and then the DInc got it less than a week later.

The Eris was just ignored by VZW, and it isn't hard to see why.
