Is there a better way to search/refine search for apps?

I'm new to Android, and it kind of frustrates me that there's no "advanced search" option in the app marketplace. If I want to search for "keyboard", for example, I have to search through an assload of skins to find an actual program. Same when I tried to search for Open Home--again, an assload of skins.

Am I missing something, or is there a better way to search/sort searches rather than having to sort through, for example, the 464 results for Open Home?

No better way as of yet. But if you wanna make it easier, you can go to www.cyrket.com from your PC and search for what you want. Then when you find it, you can use the barcode scanner app to scan the barcode on your screen and your phone will bring you to that apps download page.

I tried that before, b/c I'd heard apps were available there, but the site gives me a completely blank white screen. I thought maybe it was b/c of Adblock, so I turned it off. Same thing. Tried IE, same thing. Then I thought it was my firewall, so I tried accessing it from my Droid... same thing. Can anyone else get to the site?

Cyrket has been unavailable since I got my phone. I am guessing Google is screwing with them somehow. It is too bad that Google can't provide a decent search capability for AndroidMarket. They are gonna screw up and lose to Apple if they can't do the details right. Apps will win or lose the war.

YEP, your missing one incredibly useful and simple search operator on the Market: using the minus sign. Want to find the Open Home app? just search for "Open Home -theme" and VOILA! :)

    Happy searching!

PS: YES, google needs to make an advanced search function! but for now, I'll take the operators. Something tells me there are more, but I have not experimented with others.

It's not just a - that can be used - it supports most of the Google Search advanced search tools:

to find all these words: Just type the words (e.g. Raging Bull - finds all occurrences of Raging and Bull, whether together or not)

To find an exact phrase or wording: Use quotation marks (e.g. "Raging Bull" - finds all occurrences of the phrase Raging Bull, exactly as typed in the quotation marks)

To exclude words: Use a - (minus sign). (e.g. Raging Bull -bullhorn - finds all occurrences of Raging or Bull but excludes any that include occurrences of bullhorn)
