Which facebook apps will give me a popup/message regarding any facebook updates relevant to me in real time? The 'Facebook' app that I have right now only updates itself every 30 minutes, so any pop-ups that I recieve are potentially 30minutes old. This isn't much good for me as I get quite a lot of wall posts some days from friends relating to going out, work issues etc. It seems to have replaced sms for some people! :p

Are there any apps that will keep me updated 'live'?

Also, what is the best app for facebook chat? I tried ebuddy yesterday, but it caused a login error and on my netbook I was prompted with a security screen because my account had been accessed by an IP in America (the ebuddy servers). The IP is different each time so it seems like this won't be a suitable app for me.

In an ideal world, I'd like an app that was a compressed version of the full facebook site.. buttons for each popular function, a chat facility and updates that happen as-they-happen. :)

    Thanks.

there is only one that does this and its called "Bloo" it also has facebook chat. and yes, it updates you on everything, not just messages.

the version on the market (Bloo 1.4.4) does not have facebook chat however, only bloo 1.5 does. PM me you email and i will send the .apk to you

Log into facebook on your pc, and go to your account. You can have it send you an email everytime you get a new wall post, message, etc. You will get the email instantly.

    ghetto....haha j/k

you can do that, but a lot of people, inculding myself, do prefer an application interface. because if you do the email notifications then you have to view everything through your phone brwoser, which can be kind of annoying. but to each his own :)

Yeah there's nothing worse than having an inbox full of facebook notifications too.. I prefer leaving email out of my daily life unless it's for something important :p

+1 for email notifications. I've tried Bloo, it does work, notifications aren't instant however, and it does miss many! The official app is useless at notifications too. This is how I'm set up:

    1. Set up Facebook to e-mail you for every notification you would like to receive.

    2. Go to Gmail, and set up a label called "Facebook Notifcations" or whatever you wish.

    3. In Gmail, set up a filter so it filters any mail from Facebook into the label you just created, and make it bypass the inbox. This free's your inbox of all the notifications.

    4. I use K-9 mail with IMAP and push to recieve e-mails, which does a very good job of separating Gmail Labels into folders. You just need to set the Facebook label as 1st class and allow push for it. I'm not sure how other e-mail apps handle the labels in Gmail, but K-9 is spot on.

    5. Viola, any Facebook notifications will be pushed straight to your phone without cluttering up your inbox.

Took about 5 mins to set up, works flawlessly!

Pure Messenger..... fantastic app, includes setting to update when messages arrive. is a paid app, HOWEVER, it supports FB, TWITTER, GMAIL, and POP/IMAP email accounts under 1 roof. works with Sense, BUT has scrollable Homescreen widget for Launcher Pro.
got it yesterday, seems to work great on my Un-Rooted Evo ...
