Help Is there a way for 3G to only turn on when you get an MMS?

I'm wondering if there's a setting I'm missing somewhere. I'm on the Sharp ROM, using the stock messaging application. If I'm not missing a setting, is there a 3rd party app I can get to enable this sort of function?

In case it was unclear, I'm looking for something that keeps 3G off until I receive an MMS.

Tasker can be a little tricky to use (I still barely understand it ). Let us know if you need help setting it up. It's a pricey app, but well worth it IMO.

Why do you want to keep 3G off? And I'm assuming you mean the data connection, not the entire cellular radio. If you disable the cellular radio altogether, the phone will never get an MMS notification, and not enable 3G to download the message. If you are trying to save battery life, I don't think this is the way to go.

Thanks the responses, everyone. I was indeed talking about my data connection, rather than the cellular radio.

Since posting g this though, I've switched to a MIUI ROM, which has the function I was looking for built in.

Another way to go would be to use Juice Defender to turn data on every 15 to 30 minutes to check messages and email then shut down again.
