Root Is this Motorola Moto G Second Gen Bricked?

Hi guys, i was wondering if you could help me. my mate thought he was clever by doing something to his Moto G and it looks like he has pretty much bricked it. Everytime you turn the device on it loads up in bootmode and gives you the option to chose from normal power up, recovery, factory, barcodes and BP Tools. I've tried chosing all of them but they all come up with "boot up failed". I've tried using ADB and fast boot but i don't think that's working because i am using a virtual PC off a MAC and it doesn't seem to want to recognize the command prompt.

Does any of you Android geniuses out there know a fix for this?

Please let me know, Thanks!!

Hi, Thanks for the advise when i try to load in recovery mode the phone says boot up failed. Also, when i click on the site that johnDave gave me the page seems to be down. Is there anywhere else i can get the required firmware from?

This is what the webpage appears as:

An error occurred.

I am assuming you have already unlocked the bootloader on your phone.

First of all, you can work on your Moto G directly from a MAC and not need to use virtual PC. Following the following instructions and download:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/guide-setup-mac-flashing-moto-g2014-t2969704

The Motorola Device Manager (MDM) driver in the above link is an older version. To get the newest version for your MAC, download from here:
https://www.motorola.com/getmdmmac

After you have setup your MAC, adb, and fastboot, use fastboot to flash a custom recovery. Options are CWM or CWM with Philz Touch

OR
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.7-falcon.img

Now download the KitKat stock rom (for XT1063 version, if this is not your version, you need to find the appropriate stock rom for your version) from below link and place it on your external microsd card:
http://d-h.st/B3h

Boot into bootloader mode (vol - and power button) and then select "recovery". Use CWM recovery to install the stock rom zip file. Make sure you wipe cache, davlik, and phone (to ensure it's all clean) before installation. Follow instruction on screen and when complete, reboot phone.

This should do the job (I did this myself).

If you don't want to do any of the above, you can also try the following method (which I cannot vouch for):
