Issues since 4.1.2. update: Background Tasks won't end. Sucking battery juice!Support

So since my Galaxy S2 LTE (SGH-I727R) automatically updated, I have a couple issues I didn't have before.

First of all, when did Samsung decide to not have a Swype keyboard available along with the default one? I had to download the Swype Beta from the website because the only one on the phone with the update is the normal Samsung keyboard. Swype is the reason I went with Samsung three years ago when I got the Samsung Captivate I had before this S2. Not impressed.

And the more pressing concern: before this update, my phone had a built-in Device Manager that allowed me to end tasks (to conserve battery life) with one button push. So I've tried two downloaded apps: "Advanced Task Killer Free" and "Easy Task Killer". I'll use them to end all tasks, but then when I open the tasks killer apps again 30 seconds later, all those processes (which I haven't used since closing them) are back on and running again.

So the bottom line is my battery charge is only lasting half the work day because it's got so much crap running in the background. Before the update when I could end tasks, a battery charge last me all day. I am really, really wishing my phone had never updated to 4.1.2.

Anyone experienced this background-processes not ending when told issue?

    Any input is appreciated,

Hello and welcome to Android Forums HavoK041! :)

If you could please be patient, I've asked the mod's to move your post to the correct forum for the i727R as this is for forum is for the Galaxy S2, International, version, i9100. They should be able to give you more precise help.

Whilst you are waiting, you may wish to read through, "Firmware update problems... what you can do!", which may answer some of your questions.

Yep.. The question pertains to the SGH-I727R, our VM device is the SPH-D710 :D

If I was a Guide, I would definitely move this to the correct forum ;)

A few months ago I upgraded to 4.0.4 and after the phone rebooted I noticed that I ONLY had the SWYPE keyboard... For some reason the upgrade disabled my other keyboard. Anyway, what you could do is go to Settings ---> Applications ---> All ---> then scroll down all the way to the end of the list. IF you have any disabled applications, that`s where they will be. Look for "SWYPE". If its disabled, tap on it to open then tap on the "Enable" button.

Hope this helps and good luck
