    I have another thread about stuttery music on the go and one of the suggestions was a factory reset. So I did it.

    All my contacts are google ones, so they returned to the phone almost immediately, setting up my other email was easy too. However, I have lost all my bookmarks and all the apps that were on my SD card. I wasn't expecting that, I thought the reset only affected the phone, so it's a bit annoying to have to start Angry Birds again but all the others can be re-downloaded and I haven't really lost anything else important.

    But it got me thinking. Now it's been reset, I'm not going to put back everything that was there before. I'm going to leave the phone in as "clean" a state as I can and see how I get on. I normally turn off Mobile Data to save battery, but I'm going to leave it on and see how it goes.

    I've got 135mb free on the phone! My photo's and music are intact but I've not had a chance to try the music yet to see if it plays ok.

    I would almost recommend resetting as it makes you look at the phone in a new light. Do you need all those apps, etc. You could end up with a slicker running phone.

    I am not going to reinstall 3G watchdog as I never got anywhere near 50% of my 1Gb usage, nor am I going to put back on all the little apps that seemed like a good idea at the time but I never use. I'll see how Peeps works out too rather than put on Twitter (I only use it to read tweets, I rarely post)

    So all in all I feel I have a fresh "new" phone running smoothly without any unecessary stuff on it. I just need to check the music later on, fingers crossed that will be fine, if it isn't then I guess I'll have to try a faster class of SD card.

    Did this the other day and with mybackup pro you can choose what you want to put back on your phone, very handy app.

    I went from 65 to 92 percent with almost all my old apps installed so it does do some spring cleaning!! :)

    Mate, if memory is an issue since you just did a factory reset try my guide. It might help to free up space. Link in signature.

    It wasn't a memory issue, it was to try and sort out a stuttery music problem and resetting appears to have sorted it out - see the Stuttery Music thread.

    I've got 95Mb free on the phone now, I've only put back apps that I actually use rather than all those pointless ones that seem like a good idea at the time, but you never use!

    My Desire is running really well :)

    Depending on how many apps you currently have, you really should try out william's guide, it's great!! :)

    Update on battery...

    Uptime = 8 hours 45
    Awake = 1 hour 15

    I've got 3G on, peeps updates every hour and email every couple of hours, Gmail is immediate of course.

    I've downloaded the new youtube app and watched a short video, I've "chrome to phoned" a couple of image heavy links and browsed the sites. Sent and received a small number of texts.

    I feel quite happy that I've been using my phone without nursing the battery and...

    It's currently at 70%

    I am convinced that previously one of my apps was not only resource hungry, but also reguarly tapping my 3G too. It's obviously gone now and what an amazing difference!

    Last update today. Now on WiFi, not turned off 3G, have browsed a bit, etc and battery is now 40% with an up time of 13 hours 50. Using my phone for this entry.
    I am hugely impressed with the changes resulting from the reset
