They're passing it off as minor bug fixes and an update to the camera interface.

It's actually over 43 MB with patches to a number of library files, including for media and web, it also has some networking goodies and it touches about every system app included.

Almost 32 MB of it is a firmware update file, I haven't had time to peek into that one yet, expect details to come on that.

As always, if you are rooted or looking to root soon, do NOT accept this update, visit us in the root forum above.

We have a pretty full thread discussing the old update, let's please not repeat it in this thread.

Here, we have a JB update.

The JB release brought a lot of problems to a lot of people (proximity sensor is one example, and it's known to be a software problem that doesn't affect everyone, like many other HTC JB bugs).

Question is - who with this update can confirm that one or more of the bugs they suffered are fixed now?

Well, I just installed it. I'll post an update after I use it for a while.

Ladies and gents, please keep unnecessary chatter down. We don't need everyone to say "I installed it..." etc,. By all means post any issues or changes you have seen so others who need the info won't have to skim through a lot of unrelated chatter.

Thank you all in advance. :)

In my brief usage of half a dozen phone calls my prox sensor is now working like it did before, screen goes off and comes back on like it should. Obviously not a statistically significant test yet but very promising and welcome. Will be interesting to see battery life and whether the phone gets hot randomly. Prox sensor was the important one for me.

Yes!! Thank you! My Proximity sensor is back as well. That was the main issue I had with the last update. It was more than frustrating. I even ripped off the screen protector I had on it to see if that would help. (hint: it didn't help)

The only other thing I noticed so far is that the buttons on the Google Music widget are big again. They had shrunk to almost microscopic proportions with the latest app update where they added the previous track button.

I still can not set my phone to open as disk drive or data sync when I connect to my computer and stopping from opening in debugging mode.

Camera shutter sound can be turned off by silencing the ringer, and my WiFi seems to stay connected now after midnight.

Do you mean you can't set it to do that by default? When I connect to my Windows 8 PC my phone goes into Debugging mode and then I swipe down and click to disable USB Debugging and my phone then Connects as HTC Media Sync (or whatever) and shows up as a Device on my laptop. I can choose to mount it as a disk drive if I want but I prefer being able to access the SD card. I would imagine you can stop the USB Debugging message by turning off Developers Option now that I think about it. I will try that later.

After this update I've been having some issues with the phone being really slow and when I press the screen on button it doesn't always turn on right away and in some cases won't turn on at all or will take up to 2-3mins. Also when I put in my security pattern it takes a while to actually unlock the phone and go to the home screen. And just today it started rebooting itself. I've always been a fanboy of Android and HTC but this is just stupid and irritating. Any other options than just doing a hard reset? Im about to go to Sprint and say fix it or give me a new phone.

the proximity sensor works a lot better now. Bluetooth works or should I say doesn't work pretty much just same way is it didn't work before. My bluetooth sometimes functions fine, sometimes the headset buttons won't work with this phone. Sometimes the audio doesn't come through either. Times it does.I love this eve OH. I'm an HTC fan for a long time. I hope they sort out the Bluetooth.

    Edited from voice to text.

Yes! I actually just discovered this too. I had previously set up a Llama profile to silence the phone when I open the camera, and restore sound when I close it - SOOO happy it works again! :)

Windows 7 here and have tured off developers option and it still goes on. I think we should be able to tell it to hook up as disk drive or sync and have it remember that as it did before.

I'm always glad to hear this, especially after the last word I received from HTC was blaming Sprint for forced shutter sounds. Though I fully expect with the next update for the sounds to be stuck on again. It seems like every other update it gets flip flopped.

Here was my correspondence with HTC regarding this matter (and others):
I responded asking if they had a written policy and asking whom I can contact at Sprint, since Sprint does not have a easy customer service contact for software requests that I know of. I know full well if I tried to go through the normal Sprint channels with a comment about their software decisions it will lead nowhere as all their customer service is directed towards Service, Sales, and Accounts and such. I got this response back:

Sure feels like trying to pass the buck. It wouldn't surprise me if Sprint blamed HTC for shutter sounds.
I will gladly close my current ticket with HTC, however based on the past flip flopping I will still fear the next software update. I may have to desperately try to find someone at Sprint to contact next time. :(

Since I did the update now I have proximity sensor issues. Worked fine before. Oh well nothing is perfect. I will learn to live with it.

This update has corrected the proximity sensor issues that I was experiencing after the JB upgrade for incoming calls, outgoing calls and voicemail.

I noticed mine doing that awhile ago so I updated my PRL, then Profile, and then rebooted. Hasn't happened since then.

Since the htc software upgrade that came down about a week ago, I can no longer sync with outlook. The sync manage app just says no device connected. I do not use media sync since I do not use the phone as an MP3 player. I just want to sync contacts and calendar. Any thoughts on what happened or is there a corresponding upgrade to the sync manager software that HTC has not widely published.

I do not recall a software update in past few weeks. Just tried manual update - nothing.
