I have been using my droid to listen to music in my car and its.....fantastic!! It's better than my ipod sincewith my tape deck adapter I get some fuzz at louder volumes, but the droid is crystal clear no matter what the output is. Also, my tour had issues even playing THROUGH the car adapter. Why is the Droid so good!?:D I'm absolutely loving it

Also, I just posted in the app forum, but was wondering if anyone in here might know also...is there an app that allows you to bring just the music controls (play/pause, forward, back) to the front? Instead of going to notifications or using a widget. I love being on the ipod touch and being in an application, but the music can always pop up and I can change as I keep browsing or doing whatever (the only multitasking it does well;) ) I would especially love it if it could pop it above the lock screen so I dont have to keep unlocking while driving to change the song. all of this will much MUCH less annoying once doubletwist gets back to me on how to get it running on my computer since I keep getting fatal errors, but for now I'm just going through shuffle of a ton of songs...so easy controls are a must!

    any thoughts?

It would be nice if any could make it so if you push the camera button it would skip to the next song.

yeah you're right that would be really nice!

As I was unlocking to check that email from your post on my phone, I saw the middle circle in the unlock scroller...I wonder if that will be customizable in the future! Im sure it will, its android!

why don't you want to use the native music app widget?
I haven't used it much myself, but I'm loving the Pandora widget.

I do have to agree with you on the lock screen thing... there should be a way to disable autolock when specific apps are running...

I do use the native music widget, but it's semi annoying to have to go BACK to that everytime I want to change a song. For instance, browsing the internet or playing a game...on my ipod touch, I can pause the game, double tap the home button, and the music controls will come up. I hit next song, close that window, and back to the game. I think its a lot easier than having to exit the game, go back to my home screen(and right now its on my left one) and then change the song, and then go back to the app I was in. Granted, probably holding down the home button for the recent apps option is probably easier and I usually do that or notification bar, but that adds an extra menu to go through to get there and again to get out.

If it could just pop up with the controls in any app....and icing on the cake would be even on the lock screen it pops up, it would be perfect!!

I don't know about you but I charge my phone in the car listening to music. As mentioned in other threads there is an option to leave your screen on when charging. I have that option enabled and put the music widget at the top so I can pretty easily control it that way and I don't have to constantly unlock the screen.

Hope that might help some people.

Just today, I was looking around the house for a new pair of earbuds because my old ones finally broke. I found a set that went to another cell phone - these had a built-in microphone with a button where the cords came together that served almost as a push-to-talk button. I plugged it in, and started playing music. Out of curiosity, I pressed the PTT button, and it would pause the music. Press it again, and it would continue playing. The 3.5mm plug has four metal contacts (three insulated black lines) on it. I know that three metal contacts is required for stereo music (left positive, right positive, and common ground).

Anyway, I wonder if there are headphones with even more controls. If not, it would sure be nice to be able to reprogram the buttons on the side. For example, the camera button could be Play/Pause or be used to bring up music controls like the IPod Touch.

Too bad we didn't design the Droid, huh?

Edit: It turns out the headphones I used were to my wife's BlackBerry Curve.
