Root Just got a gTab

So i recently traded my Nook Color for a gTab and have a question or two.

The person who had it installed Flashback 10.0, and I see that 10.3 is out. Can I just wipe then flash 10.3 over 10.0 or is this ill advised?

Also, is changing the boot animation just like changing it on the phone?
system/media or data/local ?
