Downloaded it straight to my phone with the direct download link. Debating on either using the newer BFS Kernel or the CFS Kernel or keep with the stock kernel.... decisions decisions....

    To those interested:
    BFS: [GPL]2.6.29.6 BFS Kernel Update 9/5/10 - xda-developers

    CFS: [GPL]2.6.29.6 CFS Kernel V4 9/6/10 - xda-developers

    EDIT:
Oh another thing, on Kaos' Github link, #160 mentions using the latest Hero radio. I've read downgrading to the earlier radio too to fix the "disconnect, but still connected" problem. Has anyone tried using a hero radio on their Eris?? Any suggestions

    V32
    Fix camera focus bug.
Remove some debug stuff for speed!
    Optimize libs for speed!
    Fix for Slingplayer.

to go from a 2.1 ROM to a 2.2, you'll need to do full wipes, and un-partition your SD card (0,0, remainder)

Did you download it into your Eris?

If so, the zip may need to be moved from the download folder to the root folder of the sd card.

From what I gather... CFS is designed for multitasking experience, while BFS is desgined for single process speed/performance. So for overall speed you'll want BFS, overall functionality you'll want CFS.

I've been testing both on KaosFroyo v33, and it works great. KaosV33 comes with BFS as the default kernal.

Hey guys, I'd wait to install this; it seems like a lot of people (myself included) are having problems with rebooting (after the initial flash).

I flashed it and restored all of my apps. Then when I went to reboot, it took 10+ minutes. I eventually pulled the battery and restored my nandroid backup.

EDIT: It looks like if you flash one of Conap's kernels after this ROM, you'll be alright. Although, knowing kaos, he'll probably have v34 out tomorrow with this fixed.

I have the same problem. What's the best and safest way to backup a SD card? Back it up on my computer then partition the card to 0,0 and then drag the file from my comp back onto my phone? This may seem like a ridiculous question but I've never done it before and just want to make sure I do it right the first time

Exactly that. Just mount the sd card, copy everything into a folder on your desktop, boot into recovery, partition with 0 ext and 0 swap, then enable usb-ms and copy everything back over.

I had no issues updating v32, by just first wiping davlike cache first, then flashing v33, then I just flashed CFSV4, rebooted and it works fine. The first boot always takes some time, so I just let it sit as long as it needs to and come back to it once its done. v33 works great for me so far.

Enable USB-MS is an option in recovery, correct? How exactly do I copy everything back over? I know these are basic questions but as I said before, never done it before, just wanted to make sure I don't get stuck halfway through and not know what I'm doing. That's what's great about this website, stupid people like me ask dumb questions and someone comes and saves the day. Win win situation for everyone lol

Yep, it's an option in recovery. Just select it and confirm by hitting the trackball. It'll mount your sd card just as if you were doing it while booted in a ROM. Then you can drag and drop everything back onto the card and disable it by hitting the trackball when you're done.

Remember, this will still get rid of any apps you had installed on your ext partition (although your phone should automatically download them again from the market once you're signed into your Google account). Also, if you're flashing v33, you'll probably need to flash one of Conap's kernels afterwards.

i was trying it for the highly touted stability, but i had the problems with never-ending boot/black screen after flash. Guess I'll go back to Plain Jane 2.0 for now.
