    Hi All,

I have 10 days left on whether or not to keep my Eris. I am new to the Droid phones (from BB) and absolutelty love it, except the battery life. I have read the overwhelming info on extending it, but still on the fence.

I need opinions. I don't need the speed ect of the Incredible, but is it worth paying the $35 restocking fee and addtional $149 to go from Eris to Incredible just for extended battery life???

    Thank you

to me it would be the speed would be really nice to have plus the 8 megapixel camera, and the 8g onboard memory. or maybe you could just get the droid x?

battery life on the incredible isn't much better from what i read on the forums.
the incredible is a much faster better phone. but i'm not sure if i want to fork over more cash to do it.

I had the opportunity to return the Eris for the incredible last month, but I ended up keeping the Eris. Two of co-workers got the incredibles, and though it is a fast phone, I prefer the form factor of the Eris. It just wasn't worth the extra money plus restock fee. They complain about the battery too, so it seems to me unless you want speed, stick with the Eris.

Dantis, you should do some research on the Incredible forum. I believe you'll find the battery life is not better (some say worse) than the Eris. If battery life is the only reason you'd change, you're in for a disappointment.

Spend the extra money on a new battery.
    Seidio.com

The 1750 ma will probably do the trick. Or if you really want to go all out, het the 3500. But this one makes your phone a bit thicker.

Just stick with the eris since it seems you are not "wow'd" by the Incredible

Also take into consideration that it may be a month or more before you can get an incredible.

Heck no. Return it on the last day, use a backup, and then get the Droid X when it comes out on July 15th. That phone is going to be amazing.

The same thing was said about the Incredible (and the IPhone4 for that matter). At this point all we know is the marketing hype, real world usage may or may not be 'amazing'. Battery life (what appears to be the OP's primary concern) may or may not be better.
I agree with CableGuy (something I find myself doing fairly often) get a 'larger' battery. I bought a couple of the 1500 off ebay a few months ago, they've worked just fine. Or if you're a name-brand kind of person then go for the Seido.

It is going to be a great phone. But he stated that he doens't care about the speed and doens't want to pay the extra money.

In his case, i believe the Eris is the best choice for him.

All reviews (that I read) have said that the Droid X's battery is MUCH much better than the other android phones, and Verizon will be releasing a bigger battery at the end of summer for it that only adds 1mm of thickness to the device....and besides, who can say no to that beautiful 4.3" touch screen?!

i started out with the eris and now have the incredible.

my battery life is the same as my eris, although my Inc. charges twice as fast for some reason? I mean the charge time is ridiculously fast, i don't understand it

really the only difference is the speed, as others have stated. there are a couple MINOR differences in the way a few things work, although they would never be noticed unless you came from the eris to DInc after using eris for a while. (you can end calls in notification bar, a couple widgets are a little different)

you can unlock the eris with the front button which is much more convenient than the inc's button on top

the screen looks better on the incredible (direct sunlight issue is nowhere as bad as people make it out to be, i have no problem reading the screen)

camera is better on Droid Inc.

i think the eris' trackball is nicer than the optical one on the inc.

live wallpapers are kEwLLLL lol (though they drain the battery like a bathtub)

so that being said, if speed is not an issue for you then definitely stick with the eris! it's not worth the extra money if you don't care about how fast your phone is. I just couldn't stand the lag of the eris anymore. I expect a lot out of my phone :D

hope this helps your decision-making process!

Check out the LG Ally, i know nothing about it, but it is a newer android phone, and you wont have to wait a month to get it.

It's a pretty good phone, but it has it's glitches, and the keyboard makes it a bit bigger and heavier than the Eris. I personally love the phone, and if I could afford it, I would probably switch to it. I think it's getting Froyo as well.

To be honest I would say ditch the Eris and get the Incredible. they'll charge you ya but 1 year from now the Eris is going to ancient and ya maybe the Inc will be too but atleast you'll have the Snapdragon and 8GB on board memory to fall back on

Or he can keep the Eris (which he says works for what he needs) and get something ever more bad ass in a year. Just saying....

I gave my Eris to my brother who has never had a smartphone and he's totally happy with it.

i'm doing it. it was my plan all along since vzw changed the plans and i wanted a droid. they're waving the re-stocking fee cuz of the long wait for it.

i should add though, that ive had my eris almost 3 weeks now. i really like it. its easy to keep it snappy if you read this forum. then, when a good root comes, you can gain about 30% processing power. froyo will come somehow so you can use your sd card for apps. i already ordered the Dinc. should arrive by june 2016 or so. but 2 of my kids have one and they love them..(and they know about the dinc but prefer the eris). im getting my Dinc pretty cheap, so im doing it, but i do love my eris too....hope this helps

Dantis, keep the phone and upgrade to the Seidio 3500mAH battery. I just got mine on Sat and holy crap it's awesome! First off, I'm still in the middle of testing the battery. On a regular day, I text, web browse, use misc. apps, well I'm just constantly playing with my phone. I don't have the wi-fi or bluetooth on unless I'm using it at that time. So with all that, I usually unplug my phone at 630am and charge again around 3pm or so.

My first test, I unplugged the phone right when the charging light turned green (some say on an initial charge to charge it a couple hours longer than that). I then proceeded to keep my bluetooth and wi-fi on the whole time, used a sports app that updated baseball scores every 30 seconds, used a police/fire scanner the whole time, texted, web browsed, and talked on the phone. With all that, it finally took 7 hours for the battery indicator to turn red. Not bad right?

Test two. I'm currently still in the process of this, remember I got the battery Sat. and it's now Monday. I unplugged the phone Sun morning at 10am after a full nights charge. I've been using the phone as I always do. It is now 32 1/2 hours later and am at 50%!!!!!! Remember, I'm usually charging my phone again after only 9 hours or so.

The bulkiness doesn't even compare to how awesome battery life is. I do however miss my belt holster/case, but honestly, with battery life like this, who cares? Seidio sells the battery plus cover for 70 or so without shipping. I found a guy on ebay who sold one for 54 and it was like 58 shipped. He shipped from NY to CA in 3 days. So he's fast.

I hope this helps you and everyone else!

if you dont have any of the nagging issues from the eris, first of all you are extremely lucky and i envy you, but secondly if thats the case stick with what you got. the newer android phones coming out are mega powerful machines you probably dont care about

Hah! I just realized that I have to return my Eris in ten days too . We must have got ours on the same day. Coincidence. The dinc won't ship for ten days after that. Verizon better let me keep my Eris til i get my dinc

honestly the incredible is much faster and better and should be getting froyo. the eris is going to be phased out soon because its obsolete to the moto droid and incredible. id go for the incredible...i love my eris, but would love a motodroid, incredible or any other android phone thats not being phased out

its as old as the moto droid. its just slower and cheaper. compare it to the ally. just came out a month ago. i believe the eris is going away cuz htc decided it wants to be known as the droid king of kings. hell, they are still selling env's for $50. just saw them in the store tonight(last night actually). they are over a year old now and the eris is 10 times better. so it must be htc deciding this one
