I want to be able to use the HDMI out on my EVO to view video on my TV.

Here's the problem....I have a Pioneer 50" Kuro which is a display only (no speakers). I have a HD cable box running an HDMI to the Plasma, with an audi cable running to my Receiver. I have a PS3 with an HDMI running to the Plasma, with an optical audio line running to the Receiver. I have an Orb audio 5.1 connected to the Receiver.

Question is...how the heck do I hook up my EVO so it plays audio along with video? I was hoping the PS3 would have an HDMI in but I don't think it does.

I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

HDMI carries audio and video signal. You only need to hook up HDMI.

Are you asking how to make it play through your receiver or tv? If receiver, then your hdmi needs to run through the receiver first then to your tv if your receiver has that capacity.

I want to be able to play audio and video. I can't just hook it up to the TV because I'll only get video. I need it to run to threw the receiver somehow. The receive is NOT connected to the Plasma...only to the cable box and PS3.

I was hoping I'd be able to run the HDMI to the PS3 and just let it send the video to the plasma and the audio threw the receiver but I don't think I can do that.

Yea, the only way to get audio out of hdmi is to run it through your receiver, if your receiver has hdmi in and outs. If not, you will need a separate box to split the audio out, like this one:

For only $41.62 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 4X1 HDMI 1.3b Certified Switcher with Toslink & Digital Coaxial port (Rev.2) | Auto/Powered HDMI Switches

    Receiver doesn't have HDMI in/out.

So get that box, run the HDMI from the EVO in it, run a coax from the box into the reciever, and another HDMI coming out the box to the display? That sound right?

Only thing is I'm not gonna be able to directly run another HDMI to the display because everything is run threw and up the wall and I'm not pulling all that crap apart again.

I need to be able to tap into one of the other HDMI lines...the cable box or the PS3.

That SWITCH allows you to SWITCH between inputs. So you can use the HDMI cable you already have run.

No, your cable box and PS3 only output hdmi, not input.

Pretty much. I believe that box also has a 2-channel rca red/white output which you could use also, since the evo only outputs 2 channel anyway.

Well thats the whole point of a switch like that, you just need one more hdmi cable. unplug the hdmi from the back of the ps3, and plug it into the OUTPUT of the switch box. then run another hdmi from the ps3 to one of the inputs of the switch. Also run an hdmi from the phone to another input on the switch box. That way you can switch through the two, and still have only one cable going to the tv.

On second thought though, if all you want to do is watch videos and pictures from the evo on the tv, you can just use the ps3 that you already have. Plug the usb cable into the ps3 and the phone, and put the phone is disk drive mode. All your pictures and videos should show up on the ps3, and you can watch them from there, without having to buy an expensive switcher.
