Here is a link to the discussion that describes my problem on the Doggcatcher forums. Note that I've also experienced this problem playing music through other apps including Google Music (both online and offline mp3 files). So it's not isolated to the Doggcatcher app.

How's about the poor quality control on the screen? I'm on my third nexus from 3 different stores and they all have some sort of coloration on the screen. First was awful, had banding. Second the whole top half was pale blue against white background.
My third still has blue in the bottom right hand corner but compared to the other two it was bearable. Everyone i know with a nexus has some sort of green, blue, or red coloration somewhere on your screen. Look for it, low light, white background. Once you see it you can't unsee it.

I had Handcent installed but deleted it because I thought it just wasn't ready for ICS yet. I still can't send or receive MMS through the stock app but noticed this is only with Wi-Fi on. As soon as I turn Wi-Fi off the images send.

Looking in the forums I see several with this issues but no one else testing with Wi+Fi on or off.

I'm very anal about screen quality and i'm not very pleased with the actual screen itself. The HD amoled and the pentile is fine but the quality is.. shoddy at best. I'm going to my 4th store in about a week or so see if they have a different batch or something.

It might be annoying, but more annoying to me is the backlight bleed present in all LCD phones. Especially given the fact that I use my cell phone as an alarm clock and leave the screen on all night with the display on text only and a black background.

I might notice some non-uniform coloration at low levels of white backgrounds in a very dark room, but I do not notice them in normal room lighting situations. Excellent color uniformity at low levels is very difficult to achieve in OLED technology and I would not classify this as a Nexus problem per se.

an unfortunate problem with our type of screen is non uniform solid color on low brightness.

Same thing was going on with the demo unit at the local corp store, which is why they force all phones, not just the galaxy to max brightness.

I have the same problem and someone replied with Verizon phones do not use wifi for mms. I just dropped it at that point since I either explained it wrong or they midunderstood the problem. I also had to switch to CDMA only.

Not sure if this issue has been discussed before. I google search different images and then try to set them up as my desktop but the resolution has been fuzzy and horrible. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Even when I click on the image for the full view, resolution still not crisp. Any ideas?

I have had my Nexus for less than a week and have had to do a battery pull twice, after it just goes dead on me and unresponsive.
Only real issue I have had, other than getting the Calendar to sync with my Google account.
This was solved by deleting the google profile from the Sync menu and re-entering the account details.
Oh and my battery life is poor, even by my old Iphone standards.

I saw this on the demo I played with, knowing it is common really turns me off. I understand what you mean by you can't unsee it.

See... this happened to me, but then I realized the cord was only partially plugged into the slot. Not to say that's your issue too, but did you press firmly on the aux cord to ensure it was clicked in all the way? With my TPU case on, it really did appear to be plugged in fully until I slid the case over a millimeter and realized it wasn't. Just an idea! Sorry if it's not the fix! Next place I would look would be to exactly which app you used to play it... try a couple different ones and see if the issue persists.

I haven't had the issue, but while the WiFi ON setting does turn off the 3G/4G connection, it's still supposed to switch it back on for the duration of sending/receiving MMS messages. Not sure why they didn't catch that on the call. I haven't had the problem though, It's been working fine on mine. I'm also in a 3G only area though, with a Network Extender at the house running my services. Not sure if that makes a difference.

i dont know if this is an issue or not, but my gnex browsing is laggy when scrolling down a webpage and the lag increases with webpages that have more pictures. my DX had this problem but it was barely noticeable. my gnex is much more laggier than my old DX when it comes down to going through a webpage.

    p.s. thanks for airdroid :)

I haven't noticed anything like this on my (second) Nexus, although I have medium-bad banding. My first one actually had a screen that looked REALLY great except that one part that was just slightly discolored. It was only visible on a solid color (not #000000 or #FFFFFF but anything in between) and otherwise the screen was PERFECT - it didn't even have any difficulties playing blacks in video, but that one spot was such an obvious flaw that I had to take it back.

This one does seem to be more efficient battery-wise though, and I don't watch a ton of videos so I think I'm ok with this one overall. I went threw this whole list and didn't notice any of these issues that others are having, at least not any that bother me enough to take this one back and risk getting one with more problems.

I would try going into your recent apps (with the button to the right of the home screen) and swiping away all of the other things in the list. Also, I've noticed Dolphin Browser HD is much faster surfing the web. Some people were having problems with it, but I don't think that's common. I've used it since the minute I got the phone and haven't had a single problem. Also try turning off GPS, NFC and things you don't use all the time. It'll save on battery and make your browsing speedier. Maybe a task killer if you're still having issues. They aren't necessary, but could help kick the little bit of lag you are seeing.

Yeah it seems like we are a couple of the lucky ones. So many issues people are having and I'm sitting here waiting for something to happen. And when it doesn't, instead of being happy, I'm onto waiting for something else to happen since 250 more people posted different issues, lol. I have an amazing screen (after one return), terrific 4G reception (when the network is up), volume that's neither great nor horrific, and a battery that I can live with. I don't know how long I can knock on wood before I just start enjoying my phone and stop waiting for something to happen, lol. Besides, we all know if anything happens it'll most likely be on January 16th, lol.

Have you ran it through a screen test? Every demo phone and friend's phone i've seen has some sort of color blotch especially visible at lowest light on a dark grey background.

    xGalaxyNexusx Well-Known Member

Are there actual screen tests out there? I'd like to at least try it before the expiration on my return date runs out. But I'm guessing that if I can only see it during a screen test and can't notice it at all during heavy use, then I don't really care if there's something wrong with it, lol. But I guess I'd still like to know.

I just received my unlocked Nexus today and I must say I am not impressed with the screen at all. The screen on my HTC Vivid is much more crisp and clear.

No, but like others have said, why would I? I won't be able to unsee it, so I don't want to see it in the first place.

Some apps that put a lot of different colored backgrounds, especially trouble colors and some black and white - gray gradients etc.

I found that turning my screen up to full brightness on white and leaving the screen on for 20 minutes actually reduced the amount of blue present... might have to do this some more tomorrow.

The only controls I have at the bottom are: Compose, Show all folders, Refresh, and the Menu key. Is your email setup as pop or imap?
  24. Paul1201

    Paul1201 Well-Known Member

That is the exact setup I have. I called Verizon and the support rep reset my mms settings on there end and it helped a lot. She even sent me test mms messages to make sure it worked.
  25. xGalaxyNexusx

    xGalaxyNexusx Well-Known Member

It's imap, but I didn't realize it would be different for each one. Either way, I know the Nexus One and Nexus S supposedly had a lot of issues with pop accounts.

If there truly isn't any search option in pop, which it's looking more and mroe that way, then my only suggestion would be to get a G-Mail address, have all of the mail from your current address forwarded there (it works well for me) and then you have imap'd gmail on the phone. Makes sense to me at least!

    Good luck! -AJ
