I have the giant clock/weather widget on my homescreen (the one that comes on the phone when you first get it and the one most people probably use). I have seen animations of this clock on the HTC site that show the digits flipping over. And you would think it would do that anyway based on the design. However, I noticed my doesn't really flip. The digits just change instantaneously. No flipping animation. Is this just mine or is that how it is? I was actually hoping it would flip because I always thought it looked neat.

    Just curious. Thanks.

yeah it doesnt flip, and on another note, you know when you swtich from another screen to the screen with your clock and you can see it change? that is by design. change to a analog clock, it always starts at 12 when not active and swings to position when you see it on the screen. i guess the designer thought that was "cool" but i dont think so.

flip clock is the only pre installed one with weather built in. you can change the clock to analog and add a weather widget if you want though.

Settings, Sound & Display, Animations ... is normally off by default. Maybe that being turned on will help ?

It appears that HTC removed the animation from the clock widget during an update back in late September or early October 2009. Apparently it was a battery drainer and a performance succubi. From what I have read, many missed the animation, but most agreed that the performance gained from its removal was much more important.

if it truly was THAT big of a battery drain, then I guess I am ok with getting rid of the animation. thanks for the info.

On a similar topic, does the analog clocks always reset to 12 o'clock when the screen is locked and then spin to the proper time when un-locked ?

AFAIK this was only available on the original Hero and it was done away with as it was a source of lag.

I guess that if this is the only thing you can complain about than the Droid Eris is doing really well!!!

The Engadget video in their review of the Desire Z quite clearly shows the large weather clock's numbers "flipping over" as the minutes change. This review and video were posted at the end of November, so how come the animation is there if HTC supposedly removed it before that phone was even designed?
