Just a quick one, is Launcher Pro+ worth the money? Except for the resizing of widgets what does it offer that sets it apart from the standard version?

    Thanks.

Best thing that ever happened to my phone...7 home screens and other cool stuff comes with the free version (but I paid even before I needed the widgets b/c the developer deserves it). The paid part includes the BEST facebook widget to date, a great bookmarks widget, contact widget and some other widgets I haven't used yet (calendar and twitter). ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT!

I don't use any of the additional features at the moment. I paid really to support the dev because its such a good application.

I don't myself use any of the widgets, that said however I have taken advantage of the resizing abilities - my 2x2 analog clock now sits perfectly in a 1x1 square and my 2x2 WeatherBug Elite radar now spans a much more visible 4x4.

In addition since I expanded my layout to 5 rows, I've also resized my Pure Widgets (Calendar Grid, Agenda and Messenger) so the full screen 4x4's are still full screen - despite the extra row.

I however didn't initially purchase because I wanted to do that there and then - I paid because I was so gosh-darned impressed with the app I felt I should help with it's continued development. My use of resizing widgets only came at leasts 2 weeks after that.

I know you mentioned 'apart from the resizing', however that ability alone has made it so much worth it for me! :D

Same here...I find supporting the developers reason enough, so it is well worth the money.

It's definitely worth it for the resizing and widgets. But I also wanted to give Fede some props; it's a quality app AND he is very involved with his userbase!

Without a shadow of a doubt it's worth it. It's only 2 bucks and to be fair the free version is worth that, but when you throw in the Facebook widget and the HTC Sense style People widgets it's definitely good value.

The widgets make it worth it on their own.

I paid just to have the ability to resize a few widget. It was definitely worth it.

Totally worth the money. I paid simply to support the development of an already fantastic product - but the widgets are a great 'freebie', especially calendar and people :)

Resizing apps, a few special widgets, being able to have 5 icon rows instead of 4... There's not much extra. But it's a well made widget and well worth the "donation" to this guy. Hopefully it will bring more additions later on :)

I think it's definitely worth the money for the added features over the free version... but also consider, if you are using Launcher Pro, then it is your single most used application on your phone. Every time you hit home, swipe a screen, look at a widget... you're using Launcher Pro.

Isn't that, alone, worth the couple bucks? It certainly is for me. What else have you paid for that you don't use nearly as much?

Development support is only as good as we are at voting with our dollars and encouraging high quality applications. If high quality applications make money, not only will those developers continue to support them, but other developers will recognize that they can make more money if they produce a better product.

I downloaded the Battery Left widget and had some troubles with it. The developer was super prompt and helpful in his responses. The end result was that my issue with it wasn't fixable. I sent him a $5 paypal donation anyway because he's a good guy developing a quality product who is responsive to his customers.

Donate for things you find useful and buy applications you like. It's good for the market, it's good for the developers, and that, in turn, makes it good for every one of us.

I bought LPP in anticipation of getting the new HTC G2. I thought I would support the developer even though the G2 isn't out yet. I'm looking forward to installing it.

Best homescreen app, best FB widget, great calendar widget that allows you to switch between calendar and agenda mode, and frequent updates...definitely worth the money!

Totally worth it for the dock and widgets. Best FB and Calendar widgets around, IMO.

Im aiming at getting this soon, but I have a question. Is there a website for it where you can read about features, get som hints and tips and so on?

Edit: Oh, found it... I see that he can't make it available through Market. How do you install a program/app that you download from the internet??

Also, if I install Launcher Pro Plus, do I need to uninstall it if I want "stock" apperance on my Desire? And do I need to root it to ude Launcher Pro?

When you buy the app, an unlock code is emailed to you and you just enter it in, and bam, you have full-featured launcher pro.

So just install the app from the market, purchase the full version, and you'll be good to go.

    No root required.

I bought it, absolutely worth the money! It's not expensive at all, and supporting the developer helps him to continuously make it better.

Widgets replace what I missed with sense! I really liked the sense Agenda widget, never been able to find a decent replacement, now I have it back... along with being able to re-size it!

Also, you can customize shortcuts too, so you can change the app name and icon without another app.

To tell you how insignifigant the expense is, I use the LPP calendar widget to replace Pure Calendar (which I paid four dollars for)

If I had just got LPP first I would have saved 50 percent. PLUS all of the other awesome widgets and the resizing is far cooler than it would seem. Supporting Fede is going to allow him to bring us even more awesomeness in the future.

It might also be worth noting that he said when he introduced the "PRO" version that the price was a limited time while he finished making widgets. There is only one more on the dock so anyone on the fence should grab this RIGHT NOW

Total newbie question here. I see on the LP site:

"The final major difference is the dock at the bottom of the display. Here you can store four shortcuts to various elements of the phone, as well as a fifth (mandatory) slot for your application drawer link."

"The default dock configuration has shortcuts such as calls, contacts, messaging and internet access, but you can actually pick any application you want."

Using Samsung Galaxy S/Epic. Does the above mean that, without rooting, I can get rid of the four stock programs at the bottom of my screen (or keep whichever I choose), changing for any others that I want other than Applications? (Really, my goal is just to get rid of Contacts because I use DejaOffice, and that is my sole contact program). I have seen other posts that say that the only way to change or get rid of the stock apps at the bottom of the screen is to Root.

    Confused!

ON some Galaxy S phones you can change the bottom dock icons, but NOT on the Epic without rooting. I don't know why they removed this option with the Epic, but they did. :(

Looked at this for a little while and to egin with I wond, how do you change the apperance of the dock? It desnt look very pretty "out of the box".

Also, do you get the functionality of the counts you get in Sense on number of unread message and so on?

Yes, you can change the dock background. I found some really nice ones and I'll post the link once I get back home and find it. It also gives number indications for missed calls, emails and sms. It's in the dock behavior settings.

    Yes.

What you are looking at on the Galaxy S is the launcher that Samsung created. The homescreens/dock/app drawer are all part of their launcher.

Launcher Pro is a replacement launcher. It will run right over the top of the Samsung-created launcher and will give you all of the options embedded in it (new, scrollable dock, new app drawer, new widgets, new home screens, etc.)

That's incorrect in this case. I don't know if you can actually change the dock icons in the Samsung launcher, but you CAN run launcher pro, which will let you change its set of dock icons.

By the way, I would recommend that ANYONE who runs Launcher Pro, switch back to your old desktop and clear off all of the widgets. If you don't, they will always be running in the background, consuming memory, data and CPU cycles.

CLEAR OFF YOUR OLD DESKTOP IF YOU ARE RUNNING LAUNCHER PRO.

Can't figure out how to switch back? Download Home Switcher! It's easy and free:
