Does anybody know of an led flashlight for the nexus that does not require root access?

You have to root. All others use the screen.

I use the screen and it isnt too, too bad.

But I would much rather have access to the LED, I have a feeling it would drain less battery and be brighter.

I tried the Droid apps but they don't work :(

Sorry to bump a 2 month old thread, but it was unresolved.
I've just released Tesla LED Light to the market. It requires Android 2.2 (Froyo) but does not require root. It includes an app and a widget. It is free.

Just go get cyanogen ROM and be done with it, because from my eyes, it's still faster then froyo will ever be. Cyanogen + froyo = faster than my computer. HTC will still honor warranties as well as long as it wasn't the fault of your custom rom and it is an Honest Hardware fault.

Basically the only thing you lose is pawning off mistakes for the warranty.

Hello there, ...the angel from my nightmare...sorry <insert tangent i went off at>. Hello there, just a question IU cannot find on market any reference to TeslaLED or derivatives. Any one got a clue what the specifc app is called or is it on the net?

BTW how much longer for Froyo OTA hey?!! I am now resorting to seasrching for updates to my sisters 1.5 HTC Hero. Shes excited by Google Navigation!!

    cheers

TeslaLED only works on Froyo and therefor is set to require it. This means it does not show on the market for Android 2.1 users. But you should see it after you get the update.

I also have the LED Flashlight and it works GREAT! Also it is one of the few apps on 2.2 that has been updated to allow it to install on the SDCard - also very nice.
