Is there an LED notification on the Fascinate for txt msgs, emails, calls, etc?

I can't seem to find it. If not then what are the two things that look like LEDs under the glass just left of the ear speaker?

There is no notification light unfortunately. Download that app started above. It works well. You are thinking of the proximity and light censors.

Ok I installed it and restart the phone. I went through the settings but nothing comes up on the screen when I miss a call.

What could I be doing wrong?

Is there no flashing LED to let you know you have a new text when the screen is off?

Kind of a bummer if not.

No there is not... I like it personally but that's MO. There is an app called NOLED you can use to possible sidestep this issue.

Thanks. I'd like to see if anything comes out that flashes the little bar of icons at the bottom. Thanks for the Noled tip.

    Try handcent sms.

It allows different tones for different contacts, different notification icons, led blinking (I don't care for that, not sure it works on the Fascinate), and it will make the screen turn on when a message is received.

Yeah, I tried to get it to work. The only time it did (I didn't try extremely hard to be honest), is when I got a message, turned the screen on, then let it fall back asleep. Which to be honest, does not help me. I'll just have to learn to deal I suppose.

For those that it is working for are you using the stock messaging app? I'm using handcent and have the system notifications turned off and handcent notifications on. What's your set up. Maybe I have something off that I shouldn't.

Mine didn't work until a complete phone reboot. But after that, it works with both the stock messaging app and Handcent.

You may need to check the settings in NoLED. Handcent would fall under "All Other" not SMS since it's not the OEM SMS App.

I reinstalled handcent for some odd reason the no led app started working again. I have no idea why but at least it is working.

quick side note as i ve found.
the stock samsung fascinate sms will not work (why in a sec)
i use chomp and had to turn on the lock screed notification. settings> notifications> screen comes on
so this will light the screen for a few seconds and when it shuts off NOLED will work. just like Gevis said, but withough having to unlock and re lock.
now... i have to hit the home button NOT the lock key to show the unlock screen
    hope this helps
