Let's see who's first to spot what's wrong with this ad... :)

    Read/Look closely... ;)

Note - this came directly from Verizon Wireless. It was a tri-fold brochure-type flier that advertised all the different platforms Verizon carries, WebOS, Blackberry, WinMo, and Android... It arrived in the mail today.

The other thing is the screenshot... that's the stock Android status bar, not Sense... :)

If we've turned this into a game, I'll also point out that the notification bar is vanilla-Android-style. Bonus points? I hope so. :D

EDIT: It appears I wasn't fast enough...bonus points? Lost. =(

Yep! That was the other thing that jumped out at me... especially since in the text they talk about having 7 home screens... :p

Being that I used to be in advertising, it amuses me that stuff like this actually sees the light of day. :)

I don't the status bar has anything to do with the version of Android. I think it varies by carrier. It seems like a T-Mobile/AT&T one. I could be wrong, but it's what I thought until now.

What about the mention of a QWERTY keyboard? Or does a virtual keyboard count? If I read it not knowing better, I would expect a sliding keyboard.

I started to comment on that, and decided that was really quibbling. But yeah.

Maybe they have jumped ahead of themselves with the turn-by-turn being advertised?

Wow, I totally glossed over the "fully qwerty keyboard" part, lol, somehow that didn't even phase me. That makes the ad even more funny ;) tee hee.

So, um, that's a clear case of false advertising. Right? Time for a law suite? :D

I am guessing there's fine print on the back of the pamphlet that states "We reserve the right to be full of crap" - but wow... sounds like the marketing guys and tech guys need to go off to some corporate retreat and get to know each other.
