Dont get too excited though. HTC is the leader and LG is just getting into the android game. Phone we should be looking into is the one that dropped on Sprint. The EVO 4G. Now I cant wait for that to drop on Verizon. But that phone doesnt look too bad but HTC has been in the game since its dropped.

It looks interesting, but I am probably still going to hold out for a phone with Sense and 4g.

I would love to get in on this conversation but this thread will be deleted because you aren't allowed to talk about any other phone except the Eris in this forum. Also, jreed you mentioned the "I" word. :O

Oh well if a rep told you it must be true. They always know what they're talking about.

I swear! They will tell you anything won't they? Frisco's story tops it all off...I"ll come back to link that. You HAVE to read it.

No, the LTE phones will have to contain a chip that supports LTE and the phone will also have a radio for CDMA and EVDO. The first several generations anyway. They could put in an LTE chip that a software update would activate but I SERIOUSLY doubt that the Inc has been outfitted with such chip or we would have seen this in the news.

I wonder how bulky it's going to be with the keyboard. I love the form factor of the Eris. Plus I agree with OTD I love sense. I'm sure it slows the phone a little but I like some of the HTC widgets that I have not been able to find in the market.

Completely agree, If they had put the LTE chip you know for fact they would be advertising that point especially with the release of Sprint's EVO 4G phone coming out.

I know that some people still want a physical keyboard but IMO, Swype has taken that need away from me completely. I realize that some just don't have the patience to get the hang of Swype but my gosh its fast! I was using Sense on my Omnia WinMo, which was ported from the TouchPro...I have really become attached to it's simple interface.

I have large fingers and I've adjusted fine to the touch screen keyboard (last phone was a BB). And I agree swype has made it even easier. I was debating on getting the Droid because of the keyboard but I just loved the form factor of the Eris, Sense UI and how easy it seemed for me to type on it. OH and I was able to get the eris for free that helped too.

That's me in a nutshell, free included. I really dig a free phone that can do this much. Even if others think it sucks. The Omnia nearly drove me back to a physical keyboard because it was such a terrible touchscreen experience but the capacitive screen of the Eris caused me to give it another go. Glad I did.

Omnia = WinMO = Fail!!!! Plus I think all WinMo phones are resistive instead of capacitive and resistive touchscreen keyboards = Fail IMO.

Absolutely my friend! I will never go back! I don't care if WinMo7 is the best thing on earth...I have been burned and it still stings when I think about it.

I have been told by multiple reps that my phone or other phones will be compatible with LTE when it launches. Unless they have already started loading phones with LTE radios (HIGHLY doubtful) they may work during the cross over period but will not in the long run.

Does anyone remember the TDMA to GSM switch that Cingular/ATT did? It was a nightmare.

I will be most likely keeping the Eris until a dual band Android comes to Verizon or a full on 4G phones comes out. It is going to take one hell of a nice phone to get me to switch.

I would say the same but I'm a yearly upgrader and I have a feeling that although I love this phone, I will be itching to go with something with more features. However, I will hold out for LTE because I live in the Atlanta market and will probably be one of the first few to see LTE.

I have a NE2 sitting on my account and I'm just waiting for LTE to drop in that area too.

Oh believe me guys. I always carry my salt shaker every time I go to the Verizon store. I honestly haven't done much research on LTE and what hardware/software requirements a phone will need to be compatible with it. It would be nice if some of the higher end phones out now are capable of running on it though. I've been a huge LG fan for a long time and whether this phone is compatible with LTE or not I will probably still snatch it up and wait for the bugs to be ironed out in the transition to LTE.

According to this article, they will have LTE in 30 markets by the end of this year. Q&A: Verizon's LTE road map for 2010 and beyond

I'm thinking that we will start to see dual band phones by the end of the year. Voice LTE is not going to be practical until the entire VZ blueprint is covered in 4G. They plan to have that done by 2014. So we can't be too far off from having phones with an LTE chipset.

yeah but look at that keyboard. You can say what you want, but lg has always done qwerty keyboards well. I'm guessing with a 3.5 display it will be on par with the size of the droid, but hopefully much lighter since it doesn't look like it has a metal case. I hope LG leaves android alone and doesn't put something like moto's blur or htc's sense on it. Don't get me wrong, I love my sense widgets, but I like speed more.

Also to point out why I didn't post this in another forum. I like you guys here in the Eris forum. I know a lot of people here and its those opinions on this phone that I value. So thanks for all who posted and thanks for not bashing my head in for it! :D Cheers!
