Help LG Optimus Notification Issues

I'm having issues with my LG Optimus and notification rings for text messages. I can add new ringtones but it will not change from the tone it is currently set on no matter what I choose. I have even downloaded Ringdroid. It says the tone is saved but it never changes. Any suggestions?

Same problem here. No mater what tone I choose the same default continues to play. We have four of these phones and it is happening on all four of them. Really could use some help on this one.

Found the solution elsewhere on this sight. Try changing it in the Messaging application itself. Open Messaging, then hit the menu button, then settings. Not sure why this is the only way to change the notification ringtone, but as long as it works that's all that matters to me.

Thank you so much! Without this response I would not have figured out why my display message notification in the status bar was not showing up. Therefore, I was able to "kill two birds with one stone". Thanks again!!!
