Having watched the precipitous falls in Droid and Eris prices since earlier this year, I'm thinking that we could see the Incredible fall to $99 or lower by mid-August as the Droid X launches and other rumors surface about later models. With full rebate and waived activation, you can currently get the Incredible, with a tbd shipping date, from Wal-Mart for $149.

I'm about to get out of my contract with TMobile and would love to get the Incredible at $99. What do you guys think? $129? $99? 79?

What do I think? I think it was worth every penny of the $312.07 (not subtracting the rebate, and adding verizon's little bundle and a case)

If you can wait that long, go for it...i know I couldnt :D

Great job not answering the question.

Going to be outside of Verizon's coverage area until mid-August. So, there's no need to get it now.

    -100 rebate
    -100 upgrade credit
    -50 private sale
    49

and i doubt it'll go down. they have some crappy windows mobile phone that are old still selling for like 249.

Would you mind adding some context? What is "my phone"? Did you get the Incredile for $50? If so, that would be a good deal.

Also, you're dead wrong about the Incredible not falling in price. 3-4 month from launch, the Eris and original Droid were down $150. Currently, the Droid is $20 and you get paid $50 just to take an Eris. This is all Wal-Mart pricing. There is no reason to think, at least none from the geniuses offering opinions on this thread, that the Incredible won't follow a similar path.

Also, the Windows Mobile phones don't drop as quickly because of corporate preference and support. Blackberry gets the same treatment. There aren't many big companies that are subsidizing or supporting Android phones, well, other than Google.

I got my incredible for 49 plus I got a $50 credit for accessories. So I guess they paid me a dollar to get it.

I like my incredible... Id go for it!!

Nope. perhaps a "buy one, get one" deal that would make it that level, but that means $360 more data plan cost per year

Droid did not drop in price and the appeal of size and performance of the Inc will keep it at current price for the rest of the year at least.

I doubt it. The MotoDroid has thus far stayed @ 199 for all this time. The only thing I see dropping by August is the MotoDroid because of the Droid X and Droid 2. I may be wrong about that though.

Uhhhh, yeah...that's false. You can get the MotoDroid for $20 through Wal-Mart. You haven't had to pay $199 for the MotoDroid since about 2 months after its launch. So, I don't know where you're getting $199 for the original MotoDroid.

Really? It's already dropped $50 since last month if you buy is anywhere but a Verizon store. It'll certainly have dropped to $129 by mid-August.

The MOTO DROID dropped to 149 on verizon online.

My guess is there is a 50% chance it will drop to 149 - the MOTO came out in what, OCT/NOV 2009? So it really didn't take long to drop.

    Hard to say.

Why exactly would anyone do that if other retailers are selling it for significantly less? I suppose there are people who'd be willing to sell it to you for $2,000 or $10,000 for that matter.

Did nobody on this forum research pricing options before buying their phone? You can already get the Incredible for $150 with no activation fee through Wal-Mart. So, there's a 100% chance you'll be able to get it for that in August unless is somehow becomes a collector's item. You could have gotten the MotoDroid for $149 through several retailers as early as February. Currently, you can get it for $20 with no activation fee.

I purchased mine when it came out. $199 was the cheapest.

I told you I was just speaking for Verizon online. Not 3rd party stores.

There's no crystal ball so I'm not sure why you are asking if you already know the price is going to decrease.

Last time I post in one of your threads.

Agree with some of the above comments....Verizon will offer 2 for 1 before they drop the price of the DInc so doubt you will see a price drop this year. Verizon got the 2 for 1 hook the family on data-crack strategy down pat, so doubt they will change that up anytime soon.
I know in my area, Verizon stores are offering an additional $100 credit if you switch from another service provider, maybe you can ask about that in your area. You will be amazed at what Verizon associates will waive or discount to get you into Big Red.

Eric, is there a reason you seem to be increasingly confrontational and angry with each post? Its almost as if you make comments with a preconceived notion of how people are to respond and when they don't you get obnoxious.

You also seem to be doing everything in your power to push the agenda that the Incredible is essentially "dead". It may not be obvious to others yet, but you've already shown your hand.

I think I speak for others when I say contribute in a positive way or move along. At this rate you are losing credibility at an alarming rate.

I certainly don't think the Incredible is "dead", and you're drastically missing the mark on my attitude. It's really strange that you'd speculate so wildly on something like that and pretty creepy as well. I'd appreciate if you'd stop.

Anyway, if the Incredible were able to hold onto a price of $149 or even $129 by mid-August. I would see that as a sign that it is holding demand well. It seems that you're misunderstanding the market for these devices.

Also, "losing credibility"...you've got to be joking. This is an online forum. People don't get a star and a smiley face for nonsensical answers. I asked a question about the Incredible price and, except for one poster who didn't even say how it got it for $50, nobody seemed to know much about the current Incredible pricing. I think letting people know the current pricing of the Incredible and past pricing performance of similar models is certainly "contributing in a positive way". Don't you?

Don't be cheap. Pay the $200 or get the free dumb phone your carrier offers.

So you're saying I misinterpreted every response you posted in this thread? Hmmmm...I guess my understanding what hostility and attitude is must be flawed. Interesting!

Good luck with that approach, I hope it works out for you.

Yeah, I'm a little worried about that, but the secondary retailers don't always follow suit and instead, sometimes add an additional discount when Verizon has their two for ones. I've been trying to move friends and family over, but I'm having trouble fighting against BlackBerry loyalists.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on the additional $100 credit when you shop in-store. You are certainly "contributing in a positive way" and gaining "credibility". I hope you don't "move along". I'll have to check out what the reps have before buying online.

given that the data plan alone will cost you 720 bucks over the life of your phone, why would you worry about 50 dollars here and there instead of just getting the best phone on the market at the time

I do it for the same reason that I don't get the "sport package" or a turbo-charger on cars I buy. Also, I won't be buying until mid-August. Also, I'm considering other phones. Though, maybe not worrying about $50 hear and there is the way to go. After all, $50 would only get me a couple dozen new songs to listen to or half a year of wsj.com podcasts or a handful of movies to watch while I'm stuck at the airport.

Eric, first thing there is no need to be confrontational about this. You are asking Incredible owners if they think retailers who sell the phone are going to lower prices on it in a few months. It's like asking Audi owners if Audi is going to lower prices on an A6 a few months after the new model is released. We are not going to be able to give you an ironclad answer. In August it will be around 4 months after launch. I started looking at prices on a new phone about 4 months after the Moto Droid was launched, and the prices for it (on places like you mentioned) ranged ranged anywhere from $50-$150.

You asked if we had researched prices before we bought it. Probably 75% of the people on this site who have the phone preordered or were in the store on launch day. Other than Best Buy and a few indirect dealers (with physical stores), no one had the phone for sale.

The reason most people are giving you prices for Verizon is because if you are that worried about saving every dime, those other places have VERY strict restrictions when you buy a phone from them. You must not make any changes to your plan for (usually) six months, otherwise they charge a equipment subsidy recovery fee of (around) $250 per line. If you're that worried about saving money on it you better make sure that never happens or you will paying a lot more than what you'd be saving on the initial price of the phone.

One question, having to do with what you said about not getting extraneous things on your car, were you referring to the data package? The data package is required to get the phone, even if you paid full retail, when you go to activate it the system sees it's a smartphone and adds the data package automatically.

Just a little something to leave you with. When going on to a forum and asking it's members for their opinion or help, don't get confrontational and antagonistic with them. Doing so will get you to the point where no one will want to help you or even banned by the mods.
