Thanks, 2 more questions if you don't mind.

    1. I have the blueberry theme now but I want to change over to watermarkd. Do I just go about installing the new theme the same way I installed blueberry? Do I have to wipe something, etc.

    2. When OCed, what temperature ranges should we try to keep the CPU at? When is it too hot? I had mine running at 800 mhz earlier and it was at about ~50 celcius during heavy browsing.

    Thanks again!

installed 1.5 and regained the speed snappiness that i couldnt get with a wiped install of cm3!! even before the slayher kernel.

I was wondering if something was wrong with my Droid but that was not the case!

    Thanks TEAM LIQUID!

Here's the deal...if you used the Smoked theme...you may be able to get away with just flashing another theme over it. The Blueberry and Tangerine themes are so complete that you need to go back to stock to flash a different theme.

You can do this the easy way or the hard way or the "might work/might cause issues way...

    1)

Easy way would be to revert to your "Stock" nandroid and then flash a new theme (if you didn't do a nandroid...read on )

Hard way would be to start fresh with a complete reflashing of the ROM (recommended that you wipe data and cache at a minimum). Once you flash the stock ROM and get it set up again MAKE A BACKUP so if you don't like the new theme...you can revert to your backup and flash another theme.

"Might work/might cause problems way would be to flash the 1.5 ROM AGAIN overtop of your current setup WITHOUT wiping anything. It probably won't cause any force closes or any other problems but installing a ROM without properly wiping the partitions is always iffy.

    2)

50 deg C is about as hot as you want to run your phone for extended times. Heavy browsing, streaming audio and video, and using the GPS functionality can all send your phone to the top temperature ranges. Set a profile up in SetCPU that automatically clocks your phone down to 800MHz or lower when you hit 50 deg C...(that's my threshold anyway).

Naturally I had the wrong mdsum file, so I just reflashed the ROM, Slayher 1.0 and BnB theme with no issues. Thanks to all for catching this and keeping everyone updated.

I do have one question for the experts. Do you recommend storing apps on the sdcard to save memory (via Terminal, apps2sdon)? I've never really bothered with it before, but it seems like a decent thought. Advantages, disadvantages? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the review YankeeDudeL...however I am going to have to respectfully disagree with your assessment ;)

Being a tester for Liquid...I'm biased.

Having said that...I've been flashing ROMs since the days of "SholesMod" and LFY v1.5 has got to be the fastest, smoothest ROM I have ever used. Even tonight I was showing my phone off to a couple of people that own Droids. They were COMPLETELY blown away by the speed. One guy was playing with my phone and was swiping screens, opening apps, and generally just going though the ROM as fast as he could to see if he could get the phone to stall. After a couple of minutes he gave up throughly impressed.

A few users have reported performance issues like the ones you described...Let's just say were not looking at the same phones!

Now, I mean no disrespect...I know you to be an honest guy so I believe you are reporting what you are seeing...I'm just not seeing it (at all).

Between the ROM's optimizations (based all around speed) coupled with Slayher's kernels (based all around speed...especially with compcache enabled)...something must have gone a muck with your phone

    YES...YES...YES!

I use TiBu to move all of my games and large apk's like Google Earth, and Google Sky Map to the SD Card.

I don't EVER move system apps to the SD Card and while I think the problems with Launcher Pro and Apps2SD have all been fixed...I still don't move any apps with widgets to the SD Card.

I have never noticed performance issues with moving games and other apps to the sd card and I have plenty of free space on my internal memory :D

weird thing been happening. i flashed the 1.2ghz slayher kernel and my battery life has been really wonky. it was 80% and then i installed a couple apps and it dropped down to 20%. noticed over the past day or two that battery life on this kernel is not that great.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. 1.2 really isn't the best in terms of battery life. I made it 14 hours today and was at 40% left with light use (couple of 10-15 minute phone calls, light testing, gtalk, web browsing).

That doesn't seem so bad but with limited use...my SetCPU profiles are keeping my clock pretty low. When really "using" the phone, the battery drains pretty fast though. I think 1.1 and 1.2GHz has a performance vs. battery trade-off. I have found that 1000MHz is a little nicer balance. Still pretty snappy but better battery life and it runs cooler.

I think I'm becoming the old guy judge on Dancing with the Stars. lol

It really feels like something is holding it back, something causing it to lag. When there isn't any lag, it's incredibly smooth, but unfortunately, it lags pretty often. It was even before I started setting up my home screens, so I dunno.

I know what this ROM is capable of in terms of speed. The first LFY build, while very buggy, was amazingly smooth. I don't think I've seen any ROM compare in that regard. But since becoming a ROM Rev (woot, first time I've referred to myself as that..lol) I'm looking at ROMs diff then I used to, comparing and contrasting, and other words that sound intelligent.

My girlfriend has the Droid Incredible and I've compared the two quite a fair bit. 2.2 really evened things out between the two phones, even making the screen transitions close to being on par. If I take this ROM and compare, it's incredibly (pun partially unintended) far behind it.

Given this is the first time Liquid and slayher have collaborated, maybe they'll figure this out for the next go. This ROM with those kernels should spell awesomeness.

It helped, after I got the new version of LfYv1.5 with the new MD5sum my phone doesn't get extremely hot when playing SNES emulator, nor does it do it when I'm listening to the radio. I wonder what was even causing the kernel to wig out in the first place, because for all visual concerns the kernel is exactly the same as before (same model and name in menu at least to my knowledge).

Just my two cents ... but having two versions of "1.5" is fairly ludicrous. The fixed version should've been labelled 1.5.1. (Or am I misreading/misunderstanding something?)

I'm going to redownload and reflash tonight. I'm hoping that 1.5 will impress me as much or more than 1.4 did. If it doesn't, I'm fine with reverting back to 1.4.

As of right now, 1.5 is running as smoothly as 1.4 did, and I can't install Swype, along with a few other apps.

I hear what your saying, but the ROM wasn't "really" changed. LFY was added to ROM Manager and the "change" to the ROM was just a text only change which was enough to make the MD5 checksums return different values when trying to verify the files

The people who have seen their temperature "problems" fixed...is a coincidence or perhaps a result of re-flashing the ROM.

Yeah, but I'm not seeing any of this lag so I'm not sure what's "holding it back" for you... I ran out of time last night, but soon I plan on throwing up a video of my phone "in action". I can swipe screens, open apps, rotate to landscape, rotate back to portrait, etc. with the biggest lag being about a 1-2 second delay after changing orientation and trying to resume swiping screens...video will be worth a thousand words LOL

I had problems with swype the first time as well. After going through the whole process of deleting it and the installer and downloading/installing both again it worked fine.

So I'm loving this rom, snappy, responsive, only one complaint...... I was hoping the stagefright fix which I assume is the google provided patch did not fix my sirius/xm woes..... oh well, I'll just have to keep waiting for them to get off their butts and fix it.

I noticed the temp on setcpu was high, deleted the widget and reinstalled the widget and all was fine. Yankedudel is right about the lag. I am noticing it more and more. and I see he also has the same issue I posted yesterday about the delay time to answer the phone. My wife called five minutes ago and it took almost ten seconds for the answer screen to show up. Last night I was comparing her droid to mine. hers has BB.4 with the 24 gold theme and the stock 800 kernel that comes with it, and it was doing everything faster and smoother than mine clocked at 1000. This was not the case before LFY1.5

@Yankee, are you still running the same phone, or have you gotten yours replaced. When you wrote up your review on LFY 1.4, it really sounded like you have a hardware issue with your phone with some of the problems you had described back then. It also sounds like you are no longer having those same issues with 1.5. (Which to me is a telling improvement of the ROM, but that's still up dependent on my h/w fault assessment)

Just curious, your reviews are interesting to read.

As you know I love LiQuID FroYo on my phone! I have not had anything else on my phone since 1.1 or 1.2 which for me is impressive because I was changing ROMs about 2-3 times a week. But so far I agree with YankeeDude it has at times been really laggy, which is really surprising to me! Having said that though I'm not giving up on 1.5 yet, I'm going to wipe and reinstall to see if the problem is fixed. If that doesn't fix it then I'll just go back to my 1.4 build for now. BTW I have not installed a different kernel as I've always found the standard 800MHz kernel to run super smooth and I haven't loaded a theme since Stewart hasn't updated Watermark'D yet.

Yep, after several different installs I had to go back to LFY 1.4 because I couldn't answer inbound phone calls. I missed 5 calls yesterday (from my frustrated wife) due to the delay in waking up the phone. I reinstalled 1.4 this morning and voila, my phone works as a phone again.

I am going to try going back to 1.4 if that doesn't work then I will try BB.4. Should I wipe before going to 1.4? Or just flash it over 1.5?

I have the LFYv1.5 I uploaded this ROM before 11am when it was said that it was updated..

I've read thru this page, and I'm not getting a clear feel on what exactly is the difference in these two roms. Is there a bug in the former? Is it running to hot? I havent really pushed my phone since the flash but when using the net, and texting and all that(havent chk'd temp when using gps nav) I was around 102 degree. Give or take a little more and little less from that number.. At idle i chillin at high 70's and low 80's, but i do underclock when phone is at idle.

If I do need to reflash the updated 1.5, do I still wipe? How would I do this. I havnet added any themes, just slayhers 1100 kernel.

I went ahead and wiped since I didn't want to risk anything being cross contaminated and I had the time for the market to pull my apps back down. Plus I kinda like the process of reorganizing my desktop and setting up apps like they were new. /shrug
