Is there such a widget/app that can place a button on the home screen to instantly lock the screen instead of pressing the power button.

The only one I could find takes 6 seconds beofre it locks.

    TIA

I understand what you mean but.

I would find it easier to lock with a button on home while driving

    And

I find that (maybe it just me) I sometimes accidently press an icon on the home screen while holding it ready to push the power button to lock.

Am i right that lockbot just controls the lock screen and does not give a different way of locking the phone.

I am using Lockenabler but it works after 6 seconds count down in Desire. It stated that Desire cannot change the default option for using less than 6 seconds to screen off. This may be some Sense restriction that this free ware cannot set this option.

Search "Lock Screen Widget" in the Market. I use it personally.

so you're holding your phone in one hand whilst driving with the other?

have you thought about getting a car mount? relatively cheap, easy to fit and safe to use. then you can press as much as you like.
