Help Lollipop update --> error "unfortunately the process android.process.media has stopped"

After updating to lollipop I started getting this error "unfortunately the process android.process.media has stopped". After I press OK the error reappears in around a second. I can't access settings (the phone freezes) so can't go clear cache. I did a backup with LG PC Suite before updating but I just now realised that LG PC Suite isn't compatible with Lollipop meaning I have a useless backup. Is hard reset the only way this can be fixed? If so, is there any way I could get my data, more specifically my photos, from my phone to my computer?

PS. My phone isn't rooted, all stock.

I suggest you reflash the same rom with lg flash to 2014(normal mode, NOT cse)

I've never flashed a phone before so would need to get some instructions on how to do that? And will the flashing go through with the error constantly present? Currently I for instance can't get LG PC Suite to recognise the phone nor will the phone show up on my computer as a media device.
