Looking for a text selector tool/app

Hi, I'm trying to find an app that would help with selecting text on the tablet for copy paste. Half the time I try to do long press I don't get the text select option just gives me paste option. I tried to find app but not finding what I'm needing.
Also tried finding an on screen mouse or a touchpad, but only finding apps to change your device into a mouse to control your computer. I thought a virtual mouse would make text selecting easier.

Any suggestions for such type of apps.

You could always use a real mouse with an OTG cable.

Thanks new to tablet usage didn't think could did that, will try it.
