Help Mail notification problem

I have a weird issue. Everytime I get a new email, I get a notification icon in the clock tray. The problem is, when I click on the 'envelope icon', the email preview is always the same mail - it was one that I deleted long ago but it shows up EVERY TIME. when I click on the expanded notification, it takes me to my email and that PARTICULAR email is never there.

It is really odd. Has anyone seen this - or better yet, have a fix??

remove the email account and re install.

Actually thought about doing that....

lol, i know its a chore. ive seen this happen on mobile phones and this was a sure fire way of doing it.

you could to a reset however its probably better and faster to re-add the acct...
