Mail: via 3G or Wifi?

Hi experts, I need your help.
I am presently using a Blackberry and my mails are pushed when I am connected to the phone network.
I travel a lot and am trying to avoid roamimg costs.
I am looking to buy the Samsung Galaxy S2 and I have opened a Gmail account.

My question is: Can I set up my mails so that when I am getting Wifi, they are transferred that way. Or must I log onto the internet and use the web page (Gmail)?

If you are connected to WiFi, it will use WiFi for EVERYTHING. Go to menu>settings>wireless and network>mobile networks> make sure that Data Roaming is unchecked, so that your phone won't connect to the internet while abroad.
