Market to Play updation problem

Guys I have been having a problem.......Due to memory constraints, I had cleared data for ggogle play n it had gone to the basic android market version. Now, i thought Play store would come back when I restart it but it didn't and now I had been running the market version for a while now. Now, I have also installed play services and that google settings icon has also come back but market has still not updated to play store. It always shows that Google Play terms n conditions page but when I accept it, it still goes to android market. Pls help!!!

I'm not sure if you need to be rooted for this to work but here is a link to the latest apk for the Play store.

I clicked on the download button (on PC) and it seemed to download, but where did it go? There was no "Save as" option.

So, what's the procedure to get it installed on my Galaxy Fascinate which only has a non-working Market app?
