i should have my G2 by tomorrow..

from what i understand the G2 comes with an 8gb memory card..

i was thinking about upgrading to a 16gb for the hell of it...

are these eBay cards reliable and safe 2 use?

for example a "ScanDisk MicroHC" card for about $35 ???

"ScanDisk?" Really? They might as well be saying "Scamdisk."

Sandisk, on the other hand, is perfectly reliable. You may want to check Amazon, they have Sandisk microsd 16GB class 2 for $27.

One thing to note, if you plan to take lots of pictures or any video, or want to do anything else requiring high write speed, you want a class higher than just 2.

No. You should try to stick with the brand name ones, so you'll have a warranty to fall back on if it doesn't work out.

According to the people on this site, class 6 "Team" microSD cards don't perform much better than class 2 cards from Sandisk.

With any no-name brand, it's a bit of a gamble. You may end up with a great card, but you may just as well end up with a slow dud and no recourse. If the price is good enough it may be worth the risk, but if you wanna stay on the safe side I recommend something like Sandisk, Toshiba, or Kingston, or any brand you recognize. If you're not sure, try browsing to a site like amazon or newegg, find that brand, and look at the customer reviews.

    thanks for the help!

is the G1 and the G2 card exactly the same? i seem to find more results for the G1 when searching for a memory card.

the card that comes with the G2 is an 8gb speed 2 correct?

if anyone happens 2 have a link to a higher speed 8GB or 16GB memory card please post it up because i am having trouble finding brand name ones.. faster the better

MicroSD is a standard to which both the G1 and G2 adhere, along with most other modern smartphones. What you should be searching for is "16GB micro SD," leave the name of the device you want it for out of it. To be honest, a class 2 would be good enough for most uses, it's just the really high bandwidth ones like recording HD video and taking lots of pictures in quick succession that demand faster speeds.

Also, keep in mind that flash memory is dropping in price pretty fast. No matter what you get, you're inevitebly going to see the same thing available for half the price a couple months later, or at least it feels that way.
