Help Merge Duplicate Contacts on HTC Desire?

I'm hoping this is a common problem.

I have a new HTC desire.

It imported the contacts I have already from Gmail. It also imported contacts from facebook and Flickr. When I installed the Skype and Linked In apps it added the contacts from them too.

Not all of these contacts are syncing back to Google so I can sort out the duplicates. Looks like the Linked in and Skype ones are not.

Anyone know how to merge the duplicates together?

When in contacts I believe that you can choose which contact types to display. Untick the boxes for those type of contacts that will not merge. At least you won't see the double/triple appearances of these contacts.

Don't know how to force merge them though...
