Help Messaging problems after update to Android 2.3.5

I updated my desire S to version 2.3.5 and since then I have been having some problems.
The main one is that when I send text messages people receive them full of blank spaces between letters or with letters replaced with symbols..they are totally unreadable.
Also my phone feels slower and some apps won't open.

Solution from htc is hard reset which is a pain in the ass..any way to get back to old version of android?or try to update again/repair the update?

I have almost the same issue after updating to 2.3.5. The phone became slower, even the lock screen seems to freeze a bit. Usually, an update means an improvement, and I don't feel that it is so in our case. Have no idea what to do. Have you figured out something?
