Hi Guys,

This thread links to a couple of profiles I wanted to share with S3 users. They can be made universal but since they were produced on the S3, its much simpler for you guys to use them.

The original threads remain in the Tasker sub forum (And it would be nice to get traffic there) but I don't think you guys all know about it.

These Tasks should work on any CWM based recovery. I tested on the GT-i9300 using Philz Recovery. I assume these will work on other S3 models without much effort too.

Please make a Nandroid backup before flashing zips.

Task to flash Zips

This task can be run from your homescreen. It will flash all the zips in a folder in alphabetical order (so you can name them "01_rom" and "02_Theme".

Once it has booted into recovery and flashed all your zips, it will boot back into Android. Please be aware, this shouldn't be left unattended. Aroma installs will still need you to make your selections. You will also need to unselect the "reboot your device" option at the end of an Aroma install.

Profile to take Nandroid backups

This is a profile that automatically takes a Nandroid backup during your sleep (once a week). It will keep a maximum of 2 nandroid backups on your SD card, deleting the oldest before taking a new one.

hmm is it possible to modify this to work on just aosp's command feature rather than extended commands? reason why i ask is command would work on any recovery and any device, whereas extended command only works on cwm afaik.

edit:

Currently OpenRecoveryScript is supported on TWRP 2.1 and higher. Efforts were made to port OpenRecoveryScript to ClockworkMod Recovery,[1] however it was no longer necessary once Koush changed the license on ClockworkMod Recovery to the Apache 2.0 license.[2] This change allows for the creation and distribution of versions of ClockworkMod Recovery that do not have extendedcommands support encrypted to only work with ROM Manager, or the ROM Manager Premium API. Previously, it was possible to compile ClockworkMod Recovery with extendedcommands decrypted and available to other apps, however distribution was not possible due to the copyright constraints. Despite this, open versions of ClockworkMod Recovery have yet to be created due to the popularity of TWRP.

so twrp will not work

actually command is universal, extended commands are for cwm only and open recovery script can work in any recovery that supports being truly open sourced (at this time TWRP is the only one).

echo 'nandroid-mobile.sh --backup' >> /cache/recovery/command

here is an example that would be used, im not sure if you can parse that with more or variables though, would be interesting to see :)

alright man :) this is a cool concept (i myself use titanium backup schedules) but expanding beyond cwm will open the doors to a lot more people :)

i believe the only people who use cwm on teh sgs3 are ones who dont know about twrp, or just are stuck in their old ways. twrp has many many improvements over cwm (even cwm touch)
