Microsoft Groove stopped working

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/3079301/groove-music-for-ios-and-android-help was last updated 2015 something!
https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4046109/groove-music-and-spotify-faq though has some of the truth (which I heard on El Reg at register.co.uk) which is that the thing has been killed in favor of Spotify.
This said, it's not supposed to barf until Dec. 31 2017.
Perhaps your firewall maintainer has zealously closed up that point of vulnerability, but you can access your account and back up your music to your format of choice on another ISP (or cafe?)

If you really want an answer for now, surely you can include or embed an archived logcat from when you're trying to use Groove? (Having connected by USB to a computer and used 'adb shell' on it to run 'logcat', or e.g. from fish shell (or whatevs,) {and yes, Developer Options>ADB Debug has to be ON for the mobile or tablet.] tried >
adb >GrooveRagingInLogcat.fyi shell logcat
[Then try to login with Groove and use it, hit ^C about 5 minutes in, then cat >>GrooveRagingInLogcat.fyi "I logged into Groove and it gave me the waitcircle of death" (add notes on what you did) and zip the .fyi log]
and post that.
