Missing the X clear URL button in web browser

HI. I have an HTC Evo 3d from Virgin Mobile USA. Using version 4.0.3.

My web browser is missing the X button to clear the URL bar. To get a new address everytime, I have to select all then Cut. I know there's supposed to be an X to clear the URL. Any ideas how to get it there? It's never been there since I bought the phone 2 weeks ago.

The button when available means conventionnaly "Stop loading the page that you are currently loading"

In the stock browser:
The button doesn't exists at all and when I want to type a new url I tap on the url bar, which selects its contents then I type the url I want... work like a charm.

In Dolphin Browser:
The X is - as I said - for stopping requests.
And typing a url works as in the stock browser.

Anyways if you are using the stock browser I really suggest that you install Dolphin Browser, it's more powerful: Dolphin Browser is
