Hi - anyone on O2 have problems sending picture messages? Tried to send one for the first time tonight (found the nice little attachments within handcent) but it just hung for ages and wouldn't go.

I think I may have seen a thread about having to change the O2 settings somewhere but I may have imagined it.

    Hiya wozza...

I had EXACTLY the same prob...but I've been trying to find the post I put out on it on here, but after searching for it, it's been fruitless (dunno how coz this is my main forum for the Desire...)

Anyway...some kind soul pointed me in the direction of an app called 'APN backup & Restore'...

Going by my ( v bad) memory....what I had to do was DL the app....back up your existing settings with the app....and then then it was a case of 'Restore Default Settings' via the menu key I think....

It took quite a few secs but eventually somehow, O2 PostPay was on the list that popped up.... I chose that - then everything worked spot on with MMS...

Let me know if you're still stuck though and I'll dig deeper..... ;)

Handcent causes issues on ky finances hero. Wontsend or receive mms now, even in native app.

Also change your apn from o2 postpay. See my post in a thread called something like "cannot connect to mobile network"

I'm not sure with this one. I think my settings are right because it's not as if the picture NEVER sends - it does, eventually, after a host of errors.

    :S

Should I try changing or not?!

I don't know if changing the apn (if thats what you are refering to) would solve the MMS issues. Its just it was mentioned about restoring the apn in this thread but the apn thats default on o2 is no good (due to internet connectivity issues) so needs to be changed anyway.

Give it a go, you dont have to delete the old one. You can switch back at ny time.

O2 has been really pants of late network wise. I have had MMS not going or it takes ages to go and I have to force it, Mobile Network down for long periods of time. So it could also be a network issue.

If you have the o2 postpay APN in Settings>Wireless and Networks>mobile networks>Access Point names, this has been the casue every time the o2 network has been down

If I look at mobile network and untick - then tick, it says "Failed to connect due to an incorrect APN setting".

Everytime I called O2, they said "yeah having some network problems" yet my fiances Hero on o2 would ALWAYS still connect.

I had it again last night and changed my APN to the same as hers (mobile.o2.co.uk, username and password "o2web"..

Connected straight away. Switched back..."Failed to connect due to an incorrect APN setting". back to my fiances setting "Connected"

You need two APNs setup for O2 MMS to work, these are the values for post pay that I use and they seem to work perfectly:

    Press 'Menu'.
    Tap 'Settings'.
    Tap 'Wireless Controls'.
    Tap 'Mobile networks'.
    Tap 'Access Point Names'.
    Press 'Menu'.
    Tap 'Add APN'

Now key in the following settings:

    Name: mobile web
    APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
    Proxy: *LEAVE BLANK*
    Port: *LEAVE BLANK*
    Username: web
    Password: password
    Server: *LEAVE BLANK*
    MMSC: *LEAVE BLANK*
    MMS Proxy: *LEAVE BLANK*
    MMS Port: *LEAVE BLANK*
    MCC: 234
    MNC: 10
    APN Type: default

    Press 'Menu'
    Tap 'Save'

    Press 'Back'.
    Press 'Menu'.
    Tap 'Add APN'

    Name: O2 MMS
    APN: wap.o2.co.uk
    Proxy: O2 Active Wifi
    Port:9201
    Username: o2wap
    Password: password
    Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
    MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
    MMSproxy: 193.113.200.195
    MMS port: 8080
    MCC: 234
    MNC: 10
    APN type: mms

    Press 'Menu'
    Tap 'Save'

But you can only use 1 APN at a time. Do you switch between them?

I leave MY 'Green Dot' on the 'O2 PAy Monthly MMS' which I show settings for above. It seems I don't have to change to anything after that.

Are you sure? Because I have 2 APNs. I had to create a new one with mobile.o2.co.uk as the o2wap.o2.co.uk was not working for mobile data.

When the green dot was on o2wap, I couldnt connect to the mobile data. when it was on mobile I could.

Also, When Im on the mobile one, I cant send mms, but if I put the green dot next to o2wap, they all start to send.

I've tried everything. I have even tried deleting all apn's and creating using the emails I have from O2.

Problem is, both emails say to make it default by pressing the dot. However, if I make the mobile.o2.co.uk default, i can't send MMS and if I make wap.o2.co.uk default, I use that apn for mobile data connections which I don't want to do (due to reliability issues).

Basically I have to switch between them to get the most out of them. Luckily I dont send many mms's anyway.
