Had this problem from day 1 and can't fix it.

All the pics I receive by MMS are tiny and apparently only 1kb in size. If I 'open' the pic, it can be stretched a bit, but being only 1kb, the resolution is terrible!

I am on O2, but don't know if that's the problem?

    Appreciate any help!

    Thanks,

    Dem.

It is. O2's server(s) won't recognise the useragent string provided by the Hero apparantly. I've seen a couple of threads elsewhere about this and at least one attempt to fix it by changing the useragent string in a replacement mms.apk to one that is supported. I don't think this actually worked on Cupcake-based devices though.

Thanks mate. Did a bit of searching myself and saw the term "user agent" appear!

Is this something unique to HTC devices on O2, or any Android device? Or just Hero? I always assumed an unlocked device was 'clear' on any network!

Do I have to wait for O2 to be kind and change a setting, or is there anything that HTC or Android may be able to sort out in future?

    Thanks!

Looks like Handcent SMS latest update resolves this, but not tested yet.
There are now several User Agent settings to choose from including iPhone 3.0 and Custom.

    Will report back later......

It will affect any device which isn't recognised by O2's servers, most likely to be any that they themselves don't sell.

Tried a couple of settings (iPhone 3.0 and Nokia N95) in the User Agent option, but no luck really. I think the pics might be a bit bigger with the N95 setting, but not much!

There is a "Custom" option, but I have no idea what text / data to enter!

    Oh well.......
