Did you actually read the article? That honestly don't mean anything but good for at least addressing BS boltware issues. In main stream who never root and flash rom it maybe good news as they use stock but we already have support nevertheless regardless in XDA as to maintain legacy hardware.

The article fail to mention the carriers costs for maintenance with support in conjunction that's outlined during the listening deal with the phones manufacturer. But hey if they can roll out faster updates then its all good.
