I know the Droid 1 is the same phone as the Milestone, but I'm not sure if it's locked down or not.

The Milestone is a GSM version of the Droid.
    It has been rooted.

The "Droid" moniker is reserved for most Android devices on VZW. So a Droid is a Milestone, just without the "Droid" moniker.

In Europe, the Milestone is GSM. Here, it seems to be strictly CDMA.
