So I have my droid, overclocked to 1ghz, its nice, its fast and loaded full of apps! I should delete something, it is a bit slower than my incredible that I am testing for another site I write for. So Yeah. I dunno, who else has had this experience?

youre comparing a snapdragon to the 600Mhz ARM cpu in the droid overclocked?

and you write for an android site giving people technical comparisons?

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Writing experience, comparison experience? My g/f has the DI and I've got the Droid, so I've been having plenty of fun comparing the two. I'm running Fab's NexBeast OCed to 1.2, and the Inc's screen transitions are just quicker, plain n simple. Opening apps, for me, has been about the same. However, internet speed doesn't compare...the rooted Droid is faster.

If you're trying to figure out what to delete to make the Droid comparable, it's hard to say what w/o knowing what you have. The widgets that eat up the most memory for me have been SportsTap, the News n Weather Genie, and New York Times widget.

Well both CPU's are based on basically the same architecture (Cortex A8) and besides the GPU and clock speed they aren't much different.

How much "free RAM" does each phone have? I imagine that the Incredible will have much more than the Droid (seeing how it comes with much more RAM...I think it comes with 512MB).

I have both phones and to be honest my droid is just as fast as the Inc. I mean yeah, of course my Droid is overclocked to 1.0ghz but I think personally that it's pretty impressive that a phone that's about 7 months old can keep up with a phone that just came out. DROID FTW!!!!!!!!!!

thank you for the PRODUCTIVE replies. I have been noticing that both are great. The test model will probably go back at the end of the week. Its been nice but yeah, other than the obvious stuff, they are a lot alike. Sticking with droid still, wont sell it for an inc at all

basically yes, but from a technical perspective they arent even close.

its like comparing a core i3 cpu pc with an ati 5770 video card to a pc with an core i5 cup pc and an ati 5970

basically they are the same. but really would you compare them the same way?

these two phones mirror that comparison a lot more closely than you might think.

There seems to be a lot of people who get caught up in numbers, perhaps it's a techno thing, I dunno. I'm not the most technologically inclined person around, which is why I need a site like this. But what I do know is obvious results. I play w/ both of these phones and they're very similar. W/ my Droid being OCed, my screen transitions r just a touch behind the Inc's, apps DL and open about the same, and my internet burns my g/f's Inc.

I'm using both devices right now, stock Inc(no root yet), and Droid running Succulent Desire 4.5 OC'd to 1.1mhz and the Inc smokes the Droid, it's not really that close. The Inc is just so much more fluid and smooth. In my opinion with the Droid you have to have a task killer just to keep it from bogging down, the Inc runs perfect after opening and not exiting out of 15 to 20 3rd party apps, that on the Droid would just about crash. Inc FTW

I had to test your theory with bb v.1. I just ran through all of my apps and i have had no slowing down that i could personally observe. i also have it themed and oc'd at 1.0 ghz. y web pages load just as fast and so does scrolling through my homescreens. again, this is not a scientific test but a general observation. no task killer needed here.

its my opinion the gpu in the droid is woefully underpowered given the screen resolution it has to push.

gpu is everything when it comes to driving a high screen resolution. cpu has very little to do with it.

no, for example the iphone has a powervr gpu which is a tile based renderer.
