    Same thing for me. There is a manual way to do it through adb however. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

    tehsusenoh Well-Known Member

    Run this first:

    Code (Text):
    1. chmod + x
    That should, should fix it.
  6. dscottjr81

    dscottjr81 Well-Known Member

    So I enter chmod + x ./fastboot flash system system.img or chmod + x and hit enter then run the first command?
  7. dscottjr81

    dscottjr81 Well-Known Member

    At first I ran this code like you said and got no such file or directory
  8. tehsusenoh

    tehsusenoh Well-Known Member

    Run it as its own command.
  9. tehsusenoh

    tehsusenoh Well-Known Member

    Shoot, it should be:

    chmod + x fastboot

    When I try and root my phone, this is what comes up. I was unable to download Pete's tools to my computer, so I downloaded them to my phone and then moved them to my computer if that makes a difference. I followed all of the other steps. Any suggestions?

    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.
    For example:
    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>
    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    Thanks, I saw that. I don't know anything about adb so I am a bit reluctant to go that route. I was excited about the one click method, but am a bit worn out at this point.

    yeah I can ADB it but i would like to know what the hell that exception is about none the less.

    Well, after about 4 hours of trying many different things and getting nowhere, I finally got it to work. I went to Pete's Motorola Root Tools, and clicked on "Switch to Windows XP" (I have XP on my computer). I downloaded the file, followed the on-screen directions, and I am now rooted! It didn't even change any of my settings on the phone, unlike when I had rooted my X.

    Hope this helps others who are not too computer savy. Trying to work through the SDK stuff was a bit of a nightmare for me.

    No, you only lose the root if you use the FX

    Try running the 1 click app as administrator.

    Yeah, I'm not really sure what is causing the error. What are your UAC settings, rovrhys?

    Hmmm, that might be the issue - Try turning on UAC and then seeing if it works or not.
