Help motorola droid video blues

I have several videos on my phone. When I try to upload them on to my computer the pics transfer fine into my pics folder. My videos are transfered as pics and will not play. how do I transfer the video to my computer in a format I can play? I have a windows 7 64bit environment,
thanks for any help.
