    Nice. Thanks for the link.
OK, the Droid x not having froyo at launch is lame. And what was they talking about, an extra $20 a month for an extra 2 gigs of data on top of your "unlimited data package" that in itself is whack. I understand that tethering wouldn't be free, but that didn't make sense to me...

Yep, I'm updating most of the highlights of the event in the OP for those who don't use Twitter and/or aren't near a computer.

OMAP 3640 @ 1GHz is going to SPANK... SPANK the Snapdragon. Built on the 45nm architecture, this thing is going to fly. The overclocking potential is mouth-watering! We already know that our 3430 clock for clock is on par with the Snap. This 3640 is going to hand the Snap its butt for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Motoblur on this device is FAIL. Why won't anyone produce a vanilla Android device anymore? I'm so tired of this Sense UI, Blur, and whatever Sony's thing is called. Why can't Blur be a widget skin downloadable from the Market?

Three mics: for voice, video and noise cancellation.

Not sure, Engadget says "Everyone with an upgrade date in 2010 can updgrade to the Droid X at launch."

After reading the whole blog at Engadget I have a few concerns and they all center around the tethering. How are they going to track data that is being used for tethering and data that is not? With them including tethering are they (Verizon) going to try and lock down the phone as tight as possible to prevent rooting (like the Eris)?

More than likely, and I'd like to know exactly how much data does that give us to tether with? OK, the device is capable of being a wifi hotspot to 5 devices at once, if someone did that, it wouldn't take long to rack up 5-10 gigs of data. I mean on my Droid, I hardly tether on regularly hit 7-10+ gigs a month.

Yes, they said anyone that is eligible to upgrade any time in 2010 can get upgraded early.

If its locked down tight, you will only be able to tether through a VZ app that will no doubt click off every byte that moves through it. they have ways to see you tethering now, with out such an app. we will just have to wait and see....

To put the text here, if you are eligible for a NE2 upgrade anytime in 2010 (even Dec 31) you can get it early by getting the DROID X.

Does NE2 include the primary receiving an early upgrade every year?

That is exactly what I was thinking which leads to me to believe that they are going to try and lock it down really tight. I don't use tethering but I won't be buying this until I know it can be rooted. I love having a rooted device too much.

Yep, me to, but I want to hear some more numbers first. But, as with any other android phone, this will be rooted at some point. Its just a matter of time.
