So i was wondering if you guys have been able to watch movies on the fascinate? The one thing Samsung is doing, is the media hub which allows you to download movies to your galaxy s. Sadly android does not quite have that yet, you have to download, convert, transfer, so i was wondering if you guys had other options, or if you were excited for the media hub coming with froyo.

You could do the blockbuster thing I guess.

But yeah, it seems like a real waste to spend like 2 hours converting files and all that to put on your phone. It would be nice if you put a few on your phone that you hadn't seen or love for those just in case situations.

    +1

I have 5 movies on mine. I'm more interested in the Netflix app than I am anything else.

Not bad. I got like a dozen myself. Some are at a lower resolution like 480x320 (copies off my sons old ipod ) But I did a few at 720x480 not a huge difference in image quality honestly. I'm well over half full on my sd card

I had some in that format that I moved over from my Eris and just wasn't happy with the quality so I redid everything in 780 x 480 and I'm much happier. I'm about half way on my card too, but I have a ton of music on there.

So far I've only used movies to show off my phone. Avatar never fails to impress!!! :D

But I really see myself loading it up more if we can get the video out to work. I could really use that. I mean really. Would be a great tool for the work I do.

I have a couple of music videos on mine, and I can honestly say getting a lower quality versions of even this would do the phone injustice.

My friend and I were just blown away by the depth of the color(it was a semi animation MV) and the contrast... I think I'm actually going to take the effort to convert high quality animation movies to watch on the phone.

Does anyone have any links to how to go about putting movies on the Fascinate? I just picked up Iron Man 2 which has a digital copy with it, is there any way for me to get that on the Fascinate?

Also, is there a way to get the copy of Avatar that one of the Galaxy S phones comes with?

You can use Iphonemoviez.net and when you get to the links (films broken into 4-6 sections) you click and hold, and then select "Save Link" from the menu that appears.

Your chunks of the movie will be saved to the SD card in a folder called Downloads.

I've already sucked in 4 films this way, just come into work in the morning and get all your downloads started for the movie you want and then do your job or go drink coffee for an hour or so and then by the afternoon lag.... you know, from noon until the day is over..... slam your earbuds in and prop the phone up under your monitor and watch away. Just keep a copy of a procedure or corp. policy setting on the keyboard so at any moment you can toss it on your phone and pretend your doing work while listening to music!

T-Mobile relies on that to try to sell the Vibrant. I went to a few of their stores to see it to get an idea of what the fascinate was gonna be like and thats the first thing they tried to show me.

When using iphonemoviez.net, I get the message "Sorry, this video is not valid for streaming to this device". My friend with an original droid doesn't have this problem.

    Any suggestions?

    Yea, read my post :)

Should I type it out again.... naaaa.

Just look at the instructions. Long click, save link.... yada-yada...on your SD card, play each file section, drink beer, prosper and be well.

    :)

Thank goodness for WiFi. Avatar only took me 5-6 minutes to grab. Now I just gotta be careful on my storage. Only 3GB left free. I guess I really do need the 32GB

If only they existed. I have yet to see anything that wasnt class 2 in 32gb flavor. Im so jealous of whoever got their 32gb sdcard from Verizon in store for $49 when that pricing error was going on.

Did we get Avatar on this phone?

I have put a few TV shows on my phone, catching up on BSG season 2, and they view better than my laptop, with LED screen, but a little smaller. These had already been converted to .avi's and play without a hiccup.

Ah, you're right, however I would rather have two 16GB class 6's than one slow 32GB class 2. Especially since I'm watching movies on my stupid phone now since they look amazing. It's much faster skipping through chapters, credits, commercials, w/e with a faster card.

I just used DVDFab 7 to format it right. For some reason I couldn't get Handbrake to work with Avatar, even with a properly ripped HD MKV file. Only DVDFab could convert it properly without screwing it up. I use handbrake to convert most though. It's easy, and has a nice simple queue feature. I can set several videos already backed up on my server and have them all convert overnight into the proper format for my phone. It takes minutes to setup, then I just leave and let my 4.0GHz overclocked i7 920 quad core with hyperthreading and overclocked triple channel 1600MHz DDR3 do the hard work. :D

Yeah thats the one area I probably do notice some lag on the sdcard [fast forwarding thru converted DVD's.
Yeah what a difference converting movies is on a i7 compared to..hmmm...anything else I've ever used. Runs laps around C2D
