Movies on the incredible

Good luck with that Micro SDHC. That sounds awfully cheap, so hopefully it works correctly.
I took bought one from Ebay after reading the messages on here. It is legit. I bought two 32g Micro SD cards from Ebay. One of them I won a bid for $23 (Retails at $219) and the other I won a bid for $18 - I just received the 1st one and it works great, brand new, came with the Micro SD Adapter so I can put it into my computer and load the movies right onto it. I am still waiting for the other one, but it was bought from the same person, so I am sure it will work.

Dvd fab is not free. Handbrake I believe is free and oxelon media converter is also free. Dvd fab will allow you to rip any movie u own and convert them to a viewable format for several listed mobile devices , also has a generic settings if your device isn't listed. Dvd fab can basically do it all but has limited settings when using the generic settings so if your picky as I am than it might not make you happy simply because it will leave a small black bar on the bottom and top when viewing the converted video. Oxelon as much more
customizable but can be a little tricky to use if you've never used video converting software . As far as where u can get movies , hopefully I won't get into any trouble mentioning this since most forums fround upon giving this kind of advise so I will only say this (look into torrenting)
this torrent that you speak of does it play directly on the phone? or just the pc?
I have a app called abtc that I thought was for playing them on the phone.

I've been using DVDShrink to rip my DVD's to VOB files and then Videora Converter to convert. Both of which are free options, however, I would be willing to pay to find a good, easy to use, all in one program that can rip my DVD's stright to a file type that is playable on my Inc.

What are my options? DVDFab and Any DVD Coverter Pro? Any others?

Actually, what you bought was a counterfeit card. Ebay is rife with them. Essentially, they're just low quality 2 and 4 GB cards with 32 GB silkscreened onto them. Even when formatted, some cards will report the OEM capacity, but fill up disproportionately fast.

I have been using Magic DVD ripper. It has a bunch of different persets that are pretty easy to tweak, it let's you do whole movies or just chapters. It's also great for TV shows on dvd, as you can select each chapter and it does each one seperatly.

I use the Ipad default setting and it looks great on the Incredible. It's 640 x360, but like I said it looks really good. (Well 4:3 videos are 640x480) I can easily change any of the settings in it as well....

It's simple and it works...

I haven't really read this entire thread thoroughly so please excuse me if this has been stated already - Those of you who are converting 16x9 videos to 800x480 or anybody who is converting videos that don't have either 800 width or 480 height are doing it all wrong. The DINC's resolution is 16x9.5 not 16x9 so you need to convert 16x9 videos to 800x450. You can figure out the exact resolution to encode any video by taking the original video aspect ratio of the source video and adjusting it to the DINC's screen using the following method:

If the video is wider than 16x9.5 ratio then you need to multiply the video's original ratio by 800( for 16x9 you would actually use 9/16 since you are trying to find the height you use height/width ). So for a 16x9 video you take it would be (800 x 9)/16 = 450 and your video size should be 800x450.

Now if you have a video that is taller than 16x9.5 you need to multiply the ratio by 480( for a 4x3 ratio you would use 4/3 because you are trying to find the width so you multiply by the width/height ). So if you have a 4x3 video you would do (480 x 4)/3 and come up with 640x480.

*** the only time that this method will not work is if your source video includes black space at the top and bottom of the video which is the result of poor ripping procedures ***

You NEVER want to have your DINC stretch or skew the video as that will reduce the quality and use more battery life, it's better to have your computer do all the stretching before you put it on the DINC.

I tried using handbreak and I must have had missed a setting as it crashed 30mins into converting.

I do have a question though, I haven't seen it asked anywhere and don't really want to start a new topic as it's related.

If you own the DVD's and are just using a ripper/converter so it plays on a mobile device, it's still legal right? Since you purchased the movie?

I'm sure most wouldn't care, but I get uneasy with legalities of media but I really want my movies mobile for road-trips and my daughter.

I buy Blue-Rays with digital downloads (file starts smaller) but it's only in iphone or windows media format which neither play by default.

ive done avatar and all latest of my movies with ANYDVD by slysoft and Handbreak works like a charm

I have been using dvdFab and AnyDVD converter. I paid about $45 bucks for Anydvd converter and I am using the free trial for dvdfab.

I've used AnyDVD and AnyDVD Mobile for a few years now, so ripping isn't an issue. But since I've yet to receive my Droid I haven't been able to experiment to see which settings work. Have you guys found any of the Mobile Profiles work best? The Slysoft forums had a few posts suggesting using the preset Profiles for the Zune or the iPhone, but I'd just assume ask someone who's already gotten good results. Care to share which ones have worked for you?

get handbrake. set it ipod format. call it a day. easiest way to get pretty damn good quality on my d.inc.

of course if you want the best quality thats when you buy a hd tv hook up a bluray player and not complain about watching movies on a cell phone.

do you mean under "output settings," click on the ipod 5g support?

technically, no it's not legal. However if you don't share them out, put them on a website...

Have your tried to use dvdCatalyst?

Simple easy way to transfer to your mobile device. All the setting are already there.

www.tools4movies.com

There is even a free version for most smartphones. Check it out. Awesome software package.
I have been using DVD Catalyst 3 for about a month now. I love it! It does take about 3 hours per 2 hour movie on a 6 year old Sony Vaio laptop, but I have done about 10 movies so far. I have only had a problem with Casino Royale. I would highly recommend it.

DVD Fab will let you rip DVD's forever but you can't convert them to mobile using the free version. I use it to rip the DVD's to my hard drive then use Handbrake to convert them to a playable size for the Incredible. Also in case someone want to know, once you rip the movie to your hard drive, you can play them on the PC by going into the video file folder and right clicking the .IFO file and use either Media Center or Windows Media Player as the default program. Then double click either of the two .IFO extensions in the video folder to watch the movie. If you use Media Center it will automatically start by clicking on the DVD folder in the Movie menu. You can also download Media Browser and install as a Media Center plug in and it will download ID3 tag info for all of your movies and display it in Media Center. Just sharing,
