Movies on the incredible

Stupid question....I've got a ton of movies that I used to watch on my Blackberry. They're sized to 320x240 and they look great on my BB. When I use a conversion program to make them 720x480, am I losing quality by making a smaller movie bigger?

Am I better off ripping the movie, then converting the full size movie down to 720x480? Or will it make a difference?
Yes and Yes.

1) You only have 320 pixels width. Converting to 720 gives you the same 320 pixels just spread over 720.

2) If the source is less than 720p then you don't get any benefit ripping to 720p for the same reason. Most DVDs are 720 pixels in width, height will vary with regard to dimensions. You can always downscale from there but remember that you're then re-encoding twice. Your best bet is to rip to 720 (which may be default.)

I have been using DVD Catalyst 3 for about a month now. I love it! It does take about 3 hours per 2 hour movie on a 6 year old Sony Vaio laptop, but I have done about 10 movies so far. I have only had a problem with Casino Royale. I would highly recommend it.

I'm using this too and think it works great as well. Man, you need to update your PC...I'm using it on a quad-core w/ 4GB RAM. A 2 hr hour movie for me is about 20-30 minutes.

I'm using DVD fab to back up my disks with no issues. But when converting to my Dinc I'm getting a slight out of sync audio. I've used both Any DVD and DVD Catalyst both very easy to use but mid way thru watching a movie it goes a little bit out of sync. The weird thing it goes back to normal. Anyone else experiencing this?

technically, no it's not legal. However if you don't share them out, put them on a website...

Have your tried to use dvdCatalyst?

Simple easy way to transfer to your mobile device. All the setting are already there.

www.tools4movies.com

There is even a free version for most smartphones. Check it out. Awesome software package.

I will check that one out. I just get so paranoid with movies and music and legalities. Would be nice if there was a media player I could just download that would read WMV/AVI (I think thats the ipod version of the digital downloads from my BluRays).

The digital download of the WMV version I did is already 2gig (Alice in Wonderland) which sounds reasonable?

Maybe if I go yell at Netflix more, they will finish their Android app faster xD

Yes, I have seen this. I've been setting my quality to like 1000kbps I think...you/we may need to lower to the quality a bit...say to 800. I'll spend some time on this soon, as I have a trip to Munich and Venice coming up in 3 weeks.
